How to solve freeze, slow problems
You need to do this :"
I Found a f***ing solution!
If you have the D3DERR_DRIVERINTERNALERROR, follow these steps:

Windows 7 64-bit.

Open up a command line window (window+R), go to the directory in which your game is installed and type either

bo2.exe -setup (for Blood Omen 2)

Example

window+R and type:

X:\Steam\steamapps\common\Blood Omen 2 Legacy of Kain\bo2.exe -setup

X is your directory that steam is installed.

or

sr2.exe -setup (for Soul Reaver 2)

Configure your display as necessary, then start the game."

and when game is running:

"My computer is a Laptop with a haswell core i7, gt740m and windows 8

Changing compatibilities only fixed my freezing/crashing to actually start Blood Omen 2. before changing compatibility to Windows XP service pack 3 I couldn't even start the game.

Then, it would freeze/crash at random. Sometimes during cutscenes, sometimes during gameplay. I persevered with this until the 1st boss fight. It would crash/freeze at the end of the introduction cutscene every single time.

I then found a thread that solved this problem forever.

1. Start Blood Omen 2 (With compatibility set to Windows XP service pack 3)
2. Ctrl+Alt+Del at the main menu
3. Start Task Manager
4. In Task manager, select the Details Tab (Windows 8)
5. Find Bo2.exe in the list
6. Right-click on Bo2.exe and select Set Affinity from the list
7. My Laptop has 7 cores and all were selected.
8. Deselect all the cores and select ONLY ONE (I selected core 1)

DONE

I tabbed back into the game and have had ZERO crashes. I have to do this every time which sucks the big one, but the crashing/freezing sucked more."
