A new clone of this game has appeared "The Bazaar"
There is this new game that just came out yesterday that is a shameless rip off this game. The weird thing is that the fans of that game have been gas-lit to believe that BPB somehow copied their game when it's the other way around.

Bazaar used to be a cardgame. They changed developement years in to make it an autobattler cuz they realized that card games are dead.

Otherwise I agree with the sentiment. I thought bazaar looks interesting and I would try it when it releases f2p (although I did try to get into the beta but for some reason paypal is evil so I couldnt buy it).

And then reynad pulled the full schizo thing and I was like yea ♥♥♥♥ this. I played blizzard games for years when I was younger I know exactly how ♥♥♥♥ it is to play a game where the devs dont give a ♥♥♥♥ for you and only try to scam you out of your money.

No thanks, have fun with your own ♥♥♥♥ game reynad.

I kinda wish it had stolen from this. There's way too much stuff between battles in The Bazaar and it massively bogs the gameplay down. Feels like complexity for complexity's sake and it also requires a lot more clicking around and waiting for a hundred different little animations. Backpack Battles feels like a streamlined masterpiece by comparison.

Because we were there when Reynad created the concept on stream like a decade ago.
That's silly, asynchronous auto-battlers have existed for at least around a decade before the term "auto-battle" was even coined. This wasn't a rare mechanic in flash games you'd find on Newgrounds, Armor Games, Kongregate, etc.

Right lol. There is a mobile game auto-pet-battler or something (really addicting) that has had that feature for years upon years

Absolutely this. Just tried the 1.0 of Bazaar and I'm astonished at how awful it is. The devs have said they have no plans to add a speed option to the game. I can play at least 5 games of backpack battles to one games bazaar.

And have 100x more fun. I've played almost 100 hours of backpack battles. I'm going to uninstall bazaar after 3 matches. Genuinely awful game.

even backpack brawl(the mobile clone of battles) has an option to speed the game 3x(5x if you pay a membership).
Backpack Battles isn't even "the original" - Backpack Hero was a niche indie success focused on inventory and bag management with some rogue-lite randomness, just before Backpack Battles started development.

Backpack Battles added item combinations and asynchronous PvP both of which were already a thing 20 years ago in classics like My Brute and many other flash games.

But that is how all of game development innovation was happening since for ever. It is always a new variation or mashup of previous ideas.

I like both (Backpack Battles / The Bazaar) but they are providing different vibes even if it's the same type of games.
