People aren't generally against changes, they're against changes they think would hurt the game. The developers have their plan, players have their opinions on the game, some opinions differ, it's all good. Just disagreements on what would be best.
Some games you grind or unlock things to get stronger, other games have uniform balance from the start, where you only get stronger by learning the game. This game is the latter type.
I love The Binding of Isaac, but that game is built around unlocking new items. The goal of keeping Backpack Battles fresh and interesting for as many players as possible is something I'm interested in as well, but not at the cost of changing the core game balance.
Achievements are coming in the full release, that's in the roadmap already. This isn't one of those games that will be in early access for a decade.
The devs currently have no plans for a story mode. I would enjoy a story mode if it was good, but they are a small team and that would likely take a hefty amount of time to implement.
There's the game.
That's the primary thing.
I like unlocking things too, but not in games that I don't enjoy playing. I just don't get it. It sounds like more of an addictive behavior than enjoyable entertainment. Maybe just play the game occasionally if you burn out on it? Maybe come back when achievements are added?
And again you make no effort to actually answer my questions.
Clearly you don't want to have a discussion, you just want to assert your opinion, and anyone who disagrees is a fool.
Special items that is locked behind X means it isn't usable by people that haven't unlocked it. Do explain how that isn't an unfair advantage? (Oh right you still haven't answered what a "special item" is, so I suppose we STILL AREN'T ON THE SAME PAGE)
Unlocks has nothing to do with "learning" the game, because sometimes achievements/time spent does not equate to skill, just a stupid amount of time spent.
Counter Strike has been around for ages, what "special unlocks" does it have? (except cosmetics, which, to reiterate, you yourself have said you're not interested in)
Right, there is NONE.
What about Dota 1/2? Again NONE except cosmetics.
I haven't personally played Fortnite much, but my understanding is that it doesn't have anything but cosmetics as well.
Starcraft/Warcraft series? NONE
I can keep going on, wildly successful PvP games (at one point or another) have managed to become successful without pushing a carrot in front of the players face at all times.
