Spikes
Spikes are too OP and too easy to get. Yes, I know there are ways to negate it, but that forces you into a pidgeonhole build every time, or be destroyed by spikes. I think there needs to be many more ways to remove or ignore spikes.

I'll be honest, spikes are kind of a gamble much like most other things in this game. They get defanged by vampire builds fairly easily (pun intended) and crit builds like the one I just ran can absolute decimate them. If you're losing to spikes often it probably just means you rarely build for high damage and focus more on tanking what they can dish out. Which, when you take into consideration most spike builds include generating armor and possibly poison, isn't gong to work out for you.

Got to agree with this. I've tried running Spike Build 3 times, and either I never get the items to make the build, such as Pineapples and the Rose Whip never showing up in the store, or when I do have a build, it's just destroyed by everything else, cause it only hurts 1 build, and that's fast attacking build with no healing. Any build with slow attack and healing, just wipes the floor, which is MOST builds.

The one and ONLY time I had a 'Spike' build, I ended up getting to the 'main' goal, but the Extra 4 after, I didn't win a single battle and was killed quickly and easily. Spike builds are only an issue, if YOU don't have a good build and just doing things randomly.
Just adding my anecdotal evidence to the thread. I see spikes semi-regularly in plat, usually as part of a Bloodthorne build, but very occasionally because someone has lucked into a multi-pineapple with their food build and has decided to fish for more Spike support.

When I lose to it, it's usually because I'm running a multistrike build with daggers, and I don't have enough Vamp yet. I have never once lost an entire run solely to Spikes. At most, 3 non-consecutive hearts out of 5, which is usually enough tome for me to realize the gap in my build and at least try to correct it.

I've made Spike builds work, too! They're more effort than they seem because the whip is such a Stamina sink, so getting it first (which is ideal for consistency) will tank your damage output and you are risking a heart or two until you can get more stamina or combine with Hungry Blade. Not to mention, spike shields are bulky, and genie lamps are tricky to proc!

It's not as bad as it feels, IMO.

Well, Hammer/Daggers has been a popular reaper build. So I guess that could be a reason why they're are making a return.
nah i just had a sick vamp/spike build going and met a dude with ripsaw blade and that item alone just destroyed my entire build. just buy that ♥♥♥♥ and ur good

You got problem with emotes? Can someone not laugh? Plat is hard? ?? So proud are you? I've not cared plat before since I just play for fun and trying things out, not the obvious winnable build. Stop flexing your ego. Thanks. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

Mana weapons are also good counter to spikes btw. Mix it up with regen/vampirism.
As already said, spike build opponent is pretty manageable to win against.
