VR players CAN Multiplay with Non-VR players
I'm scared to post this out of fear they will patch it and remove it (please don't!), but you can play multiplayer in VR! The catch is, you have to have a Flat friend host the game. They can then invite you to their game and you can accept the invite form the home screen. We used the steam overlay to send/accept the invites.

This is promising because hopefully VR hosting is right around the corner.

You can't see the VR players movements, only what weapon they have equipped.

The VR player can swing A LOT faster than the flat player (so VR player will be chopping/fighting while Flat builds!).

Anyway, cats out of the bag and wanted to share it with others! Enjoy Co-op on VR!

Note: Haven't tried to save a game yet, just popped in quick to test with a friend and now back to work. Can test and update later unless someone beats me to it.

That is good news. I really hope that they implement inverse IK so that others can see your arm movements and such.

you have any luck on dedicated servers? I played co-op with some buddies but we could only do peer-peer in VR. I even tried joining a dedicated server in non-VR, invited friends who were in VR but they couldnt join.

Only problem on multiplayer is that VR players can save but can't click continue when coming back again. So you have to start a new save over and over

I believe the issue with dedicated servers is a game mismatch, so I dont think it runs the updated VR version. I tried running a dedicated server and my buddy and he couldnt join. Said it kept tell him it would not support VR. So Im hoping once they update what the servers run, VR users should be ok.

Do you think that would help with the inability to save in peer to peer? I haven't tried but I was wondeirng if a workaround for the lack of saving in peer to peer would mean just making storage to hold all your loot so the host can save at least your materials... or I can just be patient and wait for the official multiplayer :)

im not sure why we cant save in peer-peer, somethings might be due to use not seeing the full HUD? not sure.
the storage idea is what my buddys and I have been doing. still somethings VR players lose but alot of things you can just put on shelves before you leave.
hopefully they are trying to figure these 2 things out. honestly to be, this is one of the best VR games out there.
