The lanterns should be refuelled by lantern oil crafted from alcohol mixed with tree sap and the miner's helmets should be powered by the same batteries as you can use for the flashlights.
Yes!!! I want to use the miner's helmets!
Make them breakable so when you're attacked it gets destroyed and you have to go find another one in the caves, but with it on you can use your offhand for your lighter to light Molotov or use the bow and arrow.
i get that this suggestion is based on available items in the game... but that's now how sience works.
Also, if you go to climb or switch to something else the fire goes immediately out and is in need of cloth again. This wastes resources and such. If I could say... just drop it and it stay lit, that would help enormously.
All fire weapons are also soooooo overpowered, catching enemies on fire in 1-2 swings and also killing them in 1-2 good hits. The only downside is you have to wait on them to die... I don't believe it would be this easy to catch an entire person's body on fire. I'm okay with them dying so easy from fire, but it shouldn't be so easy to catch them on fire... It should be more used to keep them at bay. Primitive people won't understand fire on such a level as us, therefore, when they get near real fire they will feel heat that they have never felt before... and they will be more weary when attacking. Really, if you wanted to kill them with fire, its best use would be to burn down trees when they climb up them.
It is also excessively bright. I can clearly see all of my surroundings when using a torch in the open wilderness and I can have full visibility in caves. It makes it much less eerie and scary to explore. My friend told me I looked like a mini-sun in multiplayer...
Then also, I agree with everyone else too... they do not last that long... they need to do one of two things... make the stick last slightly longer or add the option to where once the cloth burns, it will start burning your actual stick too... So if you don't add more cloth (or tree sap or alcohol or whatever), you will need to craft a new torch entirely. This would let you get more length out of the fire, but the flame would be less bright and it will render the torch useless after. Now, I realize it isn't a big deal to get a stick and some cloth, but when you are in the caves, you don't really have much access to sticks, but at the same time you don't want to spend any time unable to see, because that's when they will surprise you...
RECAP FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO READ ALL THAT:
* A button to add cloth or fuel to your torch would be awesome and get us out of the crafting menu so much
*Being able to drop a lit torch would be much more effective than having to re-craft your torch, just because you want to switch to something else or climb a rope.
*Fire is overpowered. I get fire kills people pretty solidly, but you shouldn't be able to catch an entire person on fire with 1 swing of a torch. Mainly, it should just keep the enemy at bay
*Torches in The Forest are excessively bright.
*Torches don't last long enough and they should do one of two things: Make them last longer OR make it to where after the cloth burns out you can continue to let the torch burn, but it will sacrifice the stick and will not burn as bright as if cloth is burning too
I love the forest, but the torches could use some major work for me! :D
So I went outside, found a solid dead branch, soaked it in alcohol and made a torch.
It lasted a good 5-10 minutes still lit.
So...pretty sure this should be a thing.
