i don't think it really suites the idea of being a 'survival' game though .
or..ya know you could just be forced to actually 'learn' where things are and remember how to get there. you could also just build effigies as indicators for things.
but making signs is a little silly when your in the middle of a forest surviving for life or death against cannibals.. is a waste of time and energy.
i think building on this the simplest way would be to simply be able to 'approve' people before they join even if its open to the public.
