Option to Hide Home/Flag Icons Individually
It's too much! I've got shelters all around the world, log sleds at each base, and the amount of markers on my screen is driving me crazy! Plus I've got a log sled that fell into a lake and I can't dismantle it and the flag icon will always be there, taunting me... (Hint hint. Let me dismantle it! http://steamcommunity.com/app/242760/discussions/2/343786745999509368/)

Let me toggle them. If not individually, then how about a menu setting? Or better yet, display them on my MAP and let me turn it off on my HUD. Many different ways.

Totally! Which is why I think they should show up on just the map. The map is uncovered as you explore after all, which means YOU are the one drawing on it. Your homes and stick markers should be something you can draw on the map as well. (Not manually of course, but your character is the one drawing the map, so edits to the map are totally logical)

This suggestion will only work once they sort the map out. At the moment there are lots of problems with the map. It seems to sometimes fill itself in and sometimes not. I also find that everytime I leave the game and come back in, the map seems to have reset itself to a blank piece of paper. And anyway, when it does fill itself in, a very large portion of the island above ground does not fit on the map.

As for the original subject of this post, you can turn icons off but their needs to be more options such as the ability to turn off only specific icons. This could either be with individual icons or maybe have it so you could turn off individual flag colors. I would especially like to turn off individual house icons as the base I built has a treehouse in it as well as a three floor house with two beds in it. This means that there are 3 separate house icons all for the same base.

Agree with everything you said. The map definitely needs fixing and adjusting. I haven't had mine (or my friends) maps reset since the recent updates. The northern half of the map is offset quite a lot and needs fixing. The entire right shore of the island isn't on the map. etc.

You said we CAN turn icons off? How? Or just that that idea is okay? And yeah our 1 base has 3 home icons as well.

These always-on icons discourage me from creating more beds, bases, log sleds, and I've completely stopped using the stick markers. I don't need it, don't want it, and I should be able to make my life "harder" by turning them off.

In the options screen there is a check box where you can switch off icons but it literally switches off all icons. There is no way to pick only some of them.

Oh dang! I had no idea :P Thats all I wanted. Thanks! But yeah, individual toggling would be cool. Sweet.

What like the dev is gonna search for it as well? My reason for posting things without searching if they've been requested in the past is because it reiterates to the Devs that this is something we want. I also read in the forum rules you can't bump posts, so I figured making my own discussion with my own input on solutions was best.

I agree. There are several posts that I have duplicated over time just to ensure that the subject is still being discussed. With new posts being added all the time I doubt the developers have time to troll through old posts looking for good ideas that they may have overlooked.

Well if you searched for it and put a +1 it will be revivef and placed on page 1 of suggestions so they wouldnt have to look much at all.

again, bumping is against forum rules
KingJuliansBussy Sep 18, 2016 @ 4:03pm
The forum rules also says to search for the topic as to not have several of the same topic. Such as this one which has been "started" multiple times in less than a month. If everyone followed that rule then thered be far less clutter and repetitive posts. If you add to or show support of that topic then you wont exactly be punshed for bumping because thats what the rules says for you to do. Now if i typed "bump" just to keep it alive with no addition, then yes youd get in trouble.

I just did a search for "home" and "icon" which is what I would have searched for. I found no mention of individual icon disabling and the latest post I could find was in dec 2015. Even after my searches I would have still made this post because none of them addressed the individual toggling in great detail (or at all). Regardless of what you say, my creation of this discussion not only informed me about a menu setting that wasn't referenced in any of the searches I did for icon, but it also created a dialogue of proposed solutions AS WELL AS other issues relating to the proposed solutions.
