Fear Factor
When u start to play the forest, at first the surroundings r very scary and misteryous and its just natural to every human to adapt to it and eliminate that uncertanity if not to 0, then to very low levels.

I think there is a way to improve on that matter and i will explain how.

Right now we lack the mistery of the begining days. We need rare encounters that can surprise us. Rare events that we never experienced before.

The following r just possible examples of what i think would make the game more scary and interesting.

-During night u can see glowing red eyes in the shadows. Its a figure of something unseen that u cant distinguish from the darknes around. It growls at u when ur around lights and retreats if u try to close the distance, and it drops u uncounsious if ur outthere in the open during nights without a light source. ( possible effects after the encounter can be u wake up bleeding at random location on the island, starving, thursty and cold if ur near the snow area )

-Stalker ( a humanoid canibal that keeps a close eye on u during ur activities, sometimes gets as close as standing behind u when u drink water from pound or when u skining animal, screams in ur face stuning u for a sec and runs away. Sometimes the canibal steals the animals u drop right before u get to them )

-Atack from tree ( canibal jumps from the tree on top of u ) that knocks u down, and like in many other games for example u need to press Q few times to push off the canibal from u, if ur too slow to react or shocked the canibal wins and in sp mode u get draged to the cave, in mp it could kill u for bigger challenge.

-Poison efects ( hallucinations, faints ) - u see a canibal runs toward u, at the moment u swing with ur weapon at it, just disappears like a smoke or something similiar.

-earthquackes

-thunderbolts hit tree nearby ur location and set it on fire

I leave to u guys to come up with more options like those and comment on the ones i posted above. The main aspect of any of those events has to be their rarity and unpredictable patern.

We are SUPPOSED to start hallucinating when our sanity goes down, but it seems they haven't implemented this yet

The stalker idea seems amazing, I really can't get that fear factor up for me anymore, back when I first played the game I was so scared it was hard to sleep and seeing sketchy hallucinations at the corner of my eye during the day.

But also having a insanely hard to kill mutant would be amazing, something that has a high attack speed and damage, mostly forcing you to flee from it. Maybe have to come during your sleep at suddenly attack your base. Make it scary, something that will make people fear it.

There was a bit of a discussion about it here although it was mostly ideas for adding fear to the night.

Also some cave areas do seem to have earthquake like behaviour. At least cave in sounds and rumbling that is easily confused with the sound of a cowman stomping around. It makes you paranoid in the dark trying to see a mutant that isn't there. Sometimes the actual cave itself rumbles around a bit and shakes the screen, but nothing actually happens from it.

Would be cool if things like that happened in caves and then you hear a large group of cannibals screaming, coming in at you from all angles.
