Bird feeder/Cage
I have played this game on and off since i got it in 2014 and it seems there is still no way to get feather's in More than one way. how about adding a birdfeeder that will collect fallen feather's under it. should not be too hard to implement instead of trying to get the birds to land and then haphazardly swinging the axe in hope's they are slow enough.

I must have actually posted this idea twice before years ago and am a little surprised that it still hasnt made it's way in yet things that seem less practical have.
thanks for reading.

Edit 27/04/17

So after ten days some people have made this thread toxic. As i stated i would not respond in the comments after people discussing and worrying more about my grammer than idea's. All i wanted was a bird feeder/cage or some way to have access to a renewable resource namely the feather's. I understand that as most resist change and are only human you fight for that to not to take place. so let's see how this change might effect gameplay.

1) You can still murder your birds if you so wish. but maybe they could penalise that by having some feather's become unusable.

2) you would have to sacrifice berries/seeds to feed them with a chance they would drop feather's. I say chance because i am not saying this should replace the current way. just as i stated there should be more ways and if it is balanced right it would be a welcomed edition to the game. Well i think.

3) For those that play in creative/peaceful mode it will mean another decoration to their houses that they work so hard on. Remember there is more than one gameplay mode.

4) When the bird's AI/ explosion glitches are fixed (and it's bound to happen unless you think that the birds act like real bird's) and they might no longer land on the same spot as their fallen bretherens you will have less reason to complain about feather's being hard to come by.

5) The birds already drop feather's when they land on certain things ie the hunter's shelter. All they have to do is switch that to the bird feeder and the animations would be there plus the feather drops.

6) Have you ever tried to swing an axe at a bird? I doubt its as easy as this game makes it and you guy's are happy with that and paid >15quid for the experience of killing birds to get a few arrows, when in reality i say you would locate a nest or like i am discussing make a bird feeder to get said feathers for these arrows. The time spent doing that could be better used getting a fortification built before night falls and have the bird feeder there slowly, and i stress slowly building up feather's.

In conclusion i had to write half a novel so that some people might grasp what i am suggesting as there seemed to be some confusion about what i was suggesting. I hope that this addition to my thread clarifies what i was stating in my original post but in a clearer and more structured thought.

i'd be happy enough with just the feathers being reasonably effected by gravity instead of them exploding off into different directions when you kill a bird..

I'll copy paste something I posted in a recent thread about it

Gotta practice, I get at least 3 feathers for each bird. Your best shot would be to build a Hunter Shelter, birds will constantly land on it. So you can massacre them.
Same with cannibal corpses : kill a cannibal, pick it up, drop it wherever you want, and birds will land on it

small rock, beach, throw small rock at bird, collect feathers.

While I completly agree with the bird feeder idea. I don't personally have a problem collecting feathers.

Bird feeders should work similar to sap collectors, but should require you stock them with seeds.

Very true they still explode like a pillow when hit thats a major immersion breaker.

Thank you i understand that, after over 400 hours i have killed alot of the birds including spaming one's on the boat/yacht. I don't need the practice. i need a realisitic practical way to collect feathers without the need to kill the birds. we don't have to kill the bushes to get the berries we can plant them. we can breed rabbit's so we should be able to feed bird's in a bird feeder in exchange for them dropping x amount of feather's.

Again, As i said above i dont have trouble collecting them, i want to see a bird feeder for realism there is more ways to skin a cat as they say :)

Thanks for the response. Yeah i don't have a problem collecting them neither i just want another way to collect them in a different way.
Exactly seeds should be put into it at least that way it is sacrificing growing something for collecting the feather's. You get what i meant.

We were talking about a bird feeder, but a bird cage would be legit AF. Where my tweety bird at.

I just stand near where a few land and before a day passes I often amass close to 60+ feathers. More and more birds will always continue to land in the same general location.

not sure how well it works or if it was a glitch, but i watched a video on youtube yesterday and there is an area on the beach that when you kill a crow they all start flocking to the dead one, now you still have to chase around the feathers, but in essence they are coming to you and saves the trouble of chasing them down or picking them off with arrrows, ...will test this today sometime

I don't think practical means what you think it does...

The practical way is to kill birds and collect their feathers.

Spelling police too, it's KurOgo.

But that wasn't my point. Killing birds is a practical way to gather feathers. All it takes are small stones, found everywhere above ground, to kill birds, also found everywhere above ground. Since feathers are used to make ammo, it makes sense that it actually takes effort to collect them, as opposed to just being handed free arrows while sitting around. And if your aim isn't that good, well you're in luck, because literally any other thing you can swing in your hand also kills birds. Seems practical to me.

I would prefer being able to pluck a random amount of feathers off of the bird's body than the feathers flying everywhere when you kill one. Birds are easy enough to kill and they're plentiful on the beach or near bodies, no need for another way.
