Weapon upgrades disappearing after I leave game even after saving

So, 2 days ago I started trying to upgrade my axe to be really strong to cut down trees quicker (this was in peaceful mode) but when I was going to go to sleep after a few hours playing, I went to save in my house and I closed the game, the next day I opened it and the upgrades arent there.

I had that happen too, scared that crap out of me. Then i looked at the axe in your inventory and it shows your upgrades are still there with their little icons under the axe name. I am pretty sure its just a bug and the upgrades are there you just cant see them, because i was still murdilatin fools. bye

Yeah I saw the upgrades but I had a TON of upgrades and it still acted like a stock axe

Yeah it keeps the upgrades on paper when you load a saved game, but it's not upgraded, its back to its original state. I had over 100 teeth on one, I could 1 or 2 shot most baddies, then I load up my game later, and it says I have it upgraded, but its taking me 4-5 or more hits to take down easy enemies. If I upgrade again it gets stronger again. Definitely a bug that hopefully gets fixed soon.

Yep I had alot of upgrades and its hard to find teeth on peaceful unless you keep reloading the game for corpses to respawn, but I lose my upgrades
