Update:
All is well Now able to Host a Sever ( AVG 2015 Win 7)
Thanks Dead Stag !
For me and a friend of mine, the above did not fix our problem. We played co-op once on the night we both got the game fine, and when we tried to start a new game (requiring exit to main menu, and then new co-op game), the person joining (not the host) would be stuck on 'Starting client' and then 'Could not connect'.
The fix:
We found you could fix this simply by restarting your game. Exiting to main menu and then attempting to join a game would result in this issue appearing, however if all players (including the host, and anyone joining) fully restart their game (by exiting to desktop and starting the game again) your problem should be fixed. Also, you should make sure you're running Steam as admin for good measure.
Note:
If the above doesn't fix your problem, then MAKE SURE you're running Steam as admin, and also try validating files (right-click ---> properties ---> local files ---> verify integrity of game cache).
What we've tried:
-- run Steam in admin mode
-- open port 27000 (UDP+TCP)
-- checked Firewall and anti-virus software
-- reinstalled TheForest
-- verified integrity of game cache
We will try reinstalling our anti virus software and if something happens I will write it here
EDIT: We both reinstalled our anti virus software but the bug still won't let us play
you can also try:
- there are videos on the internet with the master server fix
-reinstalling net framework
-redo connection to internet
Are the developers never going to take a look at that? Isn't it of any value to them, to get Multiplay to work? Or do they need to recruit someone that can help them fix the bugs?
Forward Ports (27014-27050)TCP, (3478,4379-4380) It's that simple if you know it, otherwise that info doesn't stair you in the face. This solution works for me and my router (Ping Communications) and if it doesn't work out for you, look up The Forest settings for YOUR router on this address: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/default.htm#P
All routers are listed there, I believe. Choose your router on the list, look up The Forest in the next list and Voi'la!
We tried that solution now and followed it step by step with our own routers and still no changes. But at least thank you for sharing it with us!
