Manual Save File Fix

Some people are having issues with save files seemingly disappearing from their respective slots. BUT, they are still there as a backup, which you can recover by following the steps below:

This saving issue was brought on with this new update, But we are not experiencing it on our test machines. Any Information you can give, about your PC, and the Software running on it (Like Antivirus, Anything that monitors files being modified, etc) would be greatly appreciated.

Start a new single player game, build a temporary shelter and save on a different slot. then exit to windows. That slot should be saved properly, with the three files. If it isn't, try with the other save slots until you find one that does.

Save file Location: Appdata> Locallow> SKS> The Forest

Go to your first save (The one that isn't showing in the save slot selection screen)
and "__RESUME__prev" should be there. Rename the file, removing the "Prev" Part. so it just looks like: "__RESUME__"

Then take that file, and paste it into the other save folder. Replacing the Old __RESUME__ File with the one you have just renamed.

After this, you should be able to load that slot! Let me know if it worked, it if didn't, or if you have any questions!

You have to create one, ( Save over any empty slot you have, at least 1 should have all 3 files instead of just the "prev" one

ok... my save game also dissapeared... and im a bit mad... so is there any solution written in german? because i really dont understand what to do with this text

I just took "prev" off of my file and it worked! Not sure if it worked for my buddy that isn't hosting but I will add if it does and my specs after we play some :P

I did notice that while i save my games on the HDD. The SKS file is on the SSD.

i tried to fix mine like you said but i cant seem to find the file that you have listed is there another one for windows 8.1?

Yeah, Getting the same issues. Multiple saves on different slots doesn't matter. It never shows up when i try to load up any save, all gone. Was bummed because me and my girlfriend were working hard on our coop save when we first loaded in. Hopefully when we go into the files later we can try that fix if it is indeed there.

This fix kind of works for me, only problem that remains is that my shelter disappears, and that's a huge bummer since it's a fancy looking treehouse :(

I have a simple Acer xc600, these are some specs I found, lol :P
OS - Windows 8.1 64bit

No, it's exactly the same for windows 8.1, just search for locallow in the search bar and it will pop up :)

No, it's exactly the same for windows 8.1, just search for locallow in the search bar and it will pop up :)

Thanks i found it took out prev from my slot one save and the others now seem to keep the save fingers crossed it stays that way
