Anyone else having a blurry screen issue?
Ever since the new update the game has become very difficult to play. Not by virtue of difficulty settings, but because the screen is perpetually stuck in a blurry screen 'mode'...kinda like what happens if you're too hungry or injured, etc.

It happens from the very beginning (started a new game) and doesn't clear even after having found food, meds, etc. I even tried jumping off a cliff to see if that would help -- very strange idea, I admit to that -- but it didn't help clear up the screen either. The cutscene at the very beginning plane pre-turbulance is fine UNTIL you pick up the book and things start going awry. That's when the blur starts. It cleans up after the crash when you can see your arms are all bloody, but immediately after when you look up to see your son being taken it blurs up again. It's also 'clean' when being carried away by the savages (found that after my leap of faith...lol).

Sometimes the blur has kind of a circular pattern to it as well, which is strange of little note, just mentioning. I've tried fiddling around with my settings a bit by turning off v-sync and trying different resolutions, but nothing I've done seems to help. Also tried verifying the game cache but that had no luck either...not that it would have, but sometimes it helps with issues.

I play it on max settings, 1080p. Video drivers are up-to-date. System specs are:

Windows 10, 64-bit
Intel Core i7-3820 @ 3.6GHz
32 Gigs of RAM
eVGA Geforce GTX 1080 Ti

I'm willing to try any other ideas that people might have. It would be great to think that it could be fixed with something simple, instead of having to wait for another hot fix. Thanks :)

Have you tried verifying game files and reinstalling?
AaronLibra Dec 11, 2018 @ 1:50pm
Yes, the verifying was mentioned but this is a fresh install because my original primary games hard drive became defective. So I had to install most of my games fresh onto the new hard drive and this was one of them.

Does disabling the motion blur setting help?
AaronLibra Dec 11, 2018 @ 2:54pm
With disabling motion blur (all other settings at max) this is a quick example of the result with a new game:

It doesn't look AS BAD in these pics, but it's insane to see lol I should've done a quick video. It's essentially still the same blur effect as the previous screenshots only sharper/more refined...? (for lack of a better description). There's alot of lines all over and doubling/tripling of the elements in the environment, like what someone would assume a bad acid trip would resemble (though I promise, I have no first-hand experience with that). The same scenes that were unaffect previously are still unaffected and normal looking (bloody arms in the plane, cannibals carrying me away, etc). The last one is remarkable though and I HAD to include it lol it's when I'm coming out of the cannibal cave (since I died on purpose to see how all of that would look) and wow. It's all I can say lol

I tried fiddling around with the rest of the settings as well, disabling or turning down each one to its lowest point, one at a time - since I figured you'd ask that next. The only one that made any notable difference was when I turned down antialiasing all the way. It wasn't very visible, but still there...the graphics quality was just super cr-...err, not good. Not sure what to make of that. Please don't tell me nVidia gummed up the latest driver release somehow :( All of the other games I've played today have been without incident, so I don't think that would be the case, but I'll leave that determination up to the experts.

Any news for my issue?
AimsKey Dec 14, 2018 @ 5:42am
Check the Nvidia drivers arent messed up to be sure. Download the latest ones, do a Custom install and tick the "Clean install" box. This will delete all of the driver, before writing it again, rather than just writing over the top of old ones, which can on rare occasions cause issues. Any difference?

I did a clean install of the drivers fairly recently. I try to do it every 4 or 5 updates or so...it's one of my querks (as I've been told). I don't keep track like an OCD or anything, but it's been done lol :) Decent suggestion otherwise though :)

That is strange blurring then if u have done all that. Its like its not keeping up somehow and still showing last frame AND newest frame. The screenshots looks exactly like when i have "smart resampling" switched on, in video editing i do from time to time. Have u tried running the game in Windowed mode?

PS: Yes im being that ♥♥♥♥ lol, but that CPU is from 2012... it seriously needs updated to be paired with a GTX 1080 Ti. It will be bottle necking that GPU from full performance! I just bought a brand new Ryzen 5 : 2600, with motherboard and 16Gb ram for £500 / $700 so im sure u could find something a little older and cheaper than that, but thats up to you.

Maybe your graphics card cannot handle the max settings. Maybe decrease the settings and FOV.
AaronLibra Dec 15, 2018 @ 8:24pm
@Jamesfle - The game has been running fine previously, I'm not a new purchaser. I've had it since mid-early access and it's been flawless up until recently. I don't think it's a bottleneck issue since every other game runs immaculate on max/ultra settings. Even Kingdom Come runs perfectly on their Ultra Max "experimental" settings. I do recognize that I should get an upgrade, but my hardware is far from being outdated - despite the year it may have been produced. It's an Extreme level Intel chip. Nothing in games these days is so sophisticated that would be able to overpower it. Only intensive 3D rendering in Blender (and the like) can manage to bring it over 65% load...with Photoshop and VEGAS running at the same time it might touch 80%.

That's why it's something that I was hoping the CM would be able to continue to offer help with maybe with advice from the developers. To me, when I look at while playing, it's almost as if it's trying to force a VR mode effect or something, since the tripling and quadrupling of the environment gives me that impression with the visuals...though I've never actually tried a VR game (let alone to see what one would look like without goggles), so that's just speculation.

@Livefreexyz - My graphics card is an eVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti....it can handle it lol
AimsKey Dec 16, 2018 @ 4:03am
Nah, i wasnt saying it IS the issue, was just commenting on the hardware in general, up to u as i said. ;)

Anyway, did u try what i said? Run it in windowed mode? or u could try the 32bit version from the game folder?

:whisper: Pssstttt..... You could always buy my old I7-5930 + motherboard for cheap. Probably gonna sell it on Ebay anyway. xD
AaronLibra Dec 16, 2018 @ 4:31pm
Oh! Yes, I did try windowed mode but forgot to mention in my last post. Issue still happens. As for the 32bit version, it won't run, oddly enough. I can go an click on it and the instance shows in the taskbar, but whenever I would try to click on it to open it all it does is collapse back down to the taskbar again after showing a black screen for a split second. Tried clicking it numerous times with the same thing happening each time.

Also, thanks for the offer for your hardware (lol) but I don't buy used components :)
AimsKey Dec 17, 2018 @ 12:20pm
Hm, u seem to have some weird 1 / 1,000,000 issue lol. I cant think of anything else that u havent tried. I mean it did occur maybe a monitor issue, but this is before its on the monitor as its on a screenshot... so... im confused what the hell else there is. o0

What about changing scaling in the Desktop size and position, in the Nvidia control panel?
