Where are the cannibals?
I have played this game really long ago at a friends house en yesterday i saw it has been released fully and decided to give it a try.
Even though my computer is not that great. I can play the forest on pretty good graphic with no lagg. So far i'm really happy about this game. The mechanics, how it looks etc.
Now when i have played this game a long time ago, i knew there were cannibals bugging while setting up my first walls.

Alright so i bought the game yesterday, tried multiplayer first. When into a cave with some guys. Died alot from mutants en went back to the main menu to start my own game.
I started my own game. Searched for a decent location for my base and started to place the building prints. I expected cannibals to come and harras me while doing this but i haven't seen a single one ( as far as i know). Perhaps they are spying me from behind trees?

A little while later i found a big camp with a hole in the ground. I went in the hole and found some creepy ♥♥♥♥, but still no cannibal.

I have been playing around 3 hours and havent seen a single cannibal. What happened to them? Does the game give u time to get settled or am i experiencing a bug or glitch?

If you don't piss them off then they don't attack your base.

Kill creepy cannibal and explore the cave further and you will some of them :V

ALright. I have been getting my katana and i am on day 6 now i think. Still havent seen any mutant or cannibal.

You probably builded far away from a patrol route.

Stupid question given your obvious past experience with the game - but is it possible the game you started on your own is in Peaceful mode?

I play on normal mode and will see cannibals frequently, regardless of being a distance from known patrol routes...

Im pretty sure i started it in normal mode. Is there a way to check?

Ya, where you load a save it states the mode below the thumbnail

they all are cannibals :V

both the humanoid and the mutant ones.
just the mutant ones are called "creepy" by devs.


there are 3, armsy (called octopus too) about 11 arms thing, virginia (legsy, spider woman) about 8 legs, and fatty thing called cowman, it's like ball on 2 legs

@wariat you are misundestanding me. With creepy things i mean things such as hanging bodys. not npcs. I created a new save in normal, still no cannibal.

could you give us screenshot of your main menu and your saves? (main menu = the one where you have singleplayer/multiplayer/etc buttons)

Did you verify game files yet?

the forest doesn't have any moderation, you can break all steam rules in single comment and you won't get banned... because of this the real-world cannibals attack this forum :V

Yes i have verified the files of the game.
I did not install any mods.

Still no cannibals :(

Aha, glad you posted a pic. See 'The Forest' color and font at the top left of your screen? It should be a bold font and yellow. It changes when you are in different modes like vegan or meat mode. For some reason you have it defaulting to what I must guess is the hiarchial peaceful mode.

When I can in a bit I'll go and get the details on this, and what to do. I remember seeing this on a site somewhere that explains the different modes, the color/font thing, and how to toggle it.

Hang tight..... hopefully have something in the next little bit, unless someone beats me to it,,,,
