No Audio
As the title says I'm not getting any audio in game. Other games work fine.
So far I've made sure audio drivers are up to date, tried different sources for audio, integrity check on game, reinstall game, and probably a few more that I cant think of off the top of my head.

I then closed a program that came with my motherboard called Sonic Studio (3) and that fixed all my sound issues.

Also of note I was not able to use the Zip lines as it would lock me into animations and my character would take forever & a day to get across the line. And when I did I was still locked into animation able to do nothing but closing the game. Closing the Sonic Studio program also solved this issue for me.

Reopening Sonic Studio and both problem came back.

Hope this helps others out there.

Its usually down to three fixes. One is to change the voice count to 32 and second is to change your default format to 24-bit, 48000Hz (Studio quality). Failing that, reinstall / update ur sound drivers.

And failing all the above?

Normally nothing else, unless u didnt do one of those correctly. i.e. didnt know where exactly to change the Default format. As this or the Update / reinstall drivers are pretty much it.

Where or how did u change the default format? What drivers did u install? Who is your audio manufacturer? Explain it to me, as if it was me having the problem, so i can correct any mistakes if u made any. :)

1. Changed format: Playback devices > Properties > Advanced > 24 bit, 48000Hz (Studio Quality)
2. Tried multiple different sources for drivers. Realtek website, device manager, 3rd party programs, rollback to previous drivers. None of which had an effect.
3. Realtek

And I can now add hard reset to this growing list of things that didn't work.

Ok glad u did those correctly, shame it didnt work though. Did u try removing the drivers, then reinstall them? Also what did u mean by hard reset?
TeufelAnbeter Jul 3, 2018 @ 10:29am
Yeah I deleted the drivers and reinstalled. I wiped my laptop clean. Factory reset would probably be the more accurate term.

Well then, u DID go to extreme depths lol. A reset should have cleared it for definite if it was driver related, etc. So considering it didnt, then im stumped. You did the voice count in game though, correct? Oh i just thought of a couple. In the Default Format area u went to before, untick "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device". Now what happens?

Lastly, go to your steam library, right click The Forest, properties, local files and browse files. In the folder it brings u to, firstly try in the compatability tab of TheForest.exe properties. Tick the "Run this program as Admin". If that doesnt work... im out of ideas i think.

Done and done haha. I'm lost for ideas. All other games work. Tried a buddy's copy that I know is good. I cant think of anything else. Went out mid game and never came back.

Last couple..... run the 32bit version? To do that go back to the forest folder and try TheForest32.exe does that run sound?

Update DirectX install? I dont know what version of windows u are running to know the version u need. So you will have to find it.
