Multiplayer host fps drop to 0
The situation is while I'm hosting a multiplayer game(not server),
every time when a player join, there was a serious fps drop on my game for about 1 to 2 minutes, then everything run perfectly.
But problem emerge when a 3rd player joining the game, basically my screen just freeze (or around 1 frame every 1x seconds) with sounds go normal, I've waited for over 5 mins and no improvement at all.
Other players in the game reported that things go un-interact-able and host is sometime not responding during the freeze.
And the 3rd joining player reported that buildings and structures loading were extremely slow. But the environment loading is normal.
This only happened after latest updates (after V1.0).
I have checked all my CPU GPU and RAM usage, all below 50%.

Attempted solutions:
Loaded the save with the lowest settings, yet no improvement.
Copied the save to another host with a different steam account(and a much better desktop,i7 ,GTX1080, etc), yet no improvemnt.
Connections checked without any problems.

Does this happen on a specific save, or does it happen in a new MP game as well?

So far we have tried with a new save, everything runs perfectly.
After several attempts, we have concluded the problem may be related to our large base and the massive lighting.
With more players joining the game, the game did peaked the CPU and GPU usage.
We have tried the following:
1) load another save with much less buildings and structure, the lag almost disappear.
2) set all the in-game graphics settings (Esc>Option>Graphic) of the host/clients to lowest, almost nothing improved, except lowering the shadow settings, which did raised the fps a bit.
3) change all the "client" graphic quality to lower setting (fastest) through "TheForest Configuration" pop-up before game starting, surprisingly, this work significantly well.

This is kind of weird that client graphics quality has such a significant impact on the host performance.

Could you have the host send the save file to ex914@hotmail.com ?

How to locate saves:
Right click the windows icon in the bottom left of the taskbar, select "run," and type %appdata% in the window that pops up. This will bring you to a subfolder of appdata that you can then back out of to the main appdata folder.

Once you are there, follow this directory: appdata/locallow/sks/theforest/76561198009740921
(Or a similar number). Inside will be all of your save files from both SP and MP. You can then navigate to the slot the save is made in, zip that slot folder with 7zip or winrar, and send it to the aforementioned email.

File send.

Have you found the solution to this issue? I have the same situation right now. It took several hours to build a big and beautiful base, but now no other player can join. This is so frustrating... Is it really the case that the size of the buildings affects performance so much?

No official solution was given to me.
But you could try to ask all your friends to set the game in lowest settings, or try to remove some structures by the host before anyone join the game.
This worked for us for sometime, but at the end, we just started a new game and shrink the size of our base.
Hope this could help.
