No Audio in VR (SOLVED)

I've been messing around with settings for a while, but I still don't get audio when playing the game in VR (normal mode works fine). This is the only VR game that doesn't have audio when I open it.

I've double-checked the system and game settings in my pc's sound options. It's set to default (which is currently set to play through a set of external speakers). I've tried changing it to the speakers themselves rather than just my PC's default, but that didn't affect anything. I've also tried several of the other options suggested to other users: running as administrator, changing sound settings to HTV Vive speakers and mirror audio to the device I want to play the volume, ensuring the mirror was in the foreground, etc. Nothing has made a difference

I got it working. There were a couple of differences between others' suggestions and what worked for me:

1. I had to do the audio mirroring (set default to "HTC Vive - 2 Speaker"-- not just "HTC Vive"-- and the mirror audio to my preferred device)

2. Once that was set, turn off my Vive and launch the game in VR mode directly from Steam. Changing the audio settings didn't work for me until I launched the game this way. After launching directly from Steam with the headset off, it now launches fine from VR Home too

Hopefully this'll also work for others

We just went to playback devices in windows and disabled the vive speakers. It's working 2 for 2 so far.

Ooooooh found that I can now get audio on my Rift to now, great news!

i have the same problem in my oculus, i am using my razer headphones instead of my vr headphones since they dont work no more and it dosent work, i cant hear anything, my vr menu does have sound but it dosent work on the game at all

did you fix it. and if so, how.

Check in the settings for The Forest. got to vr in settings and make sure it is on the oculus driver. it doesn't default to the correct driver/speakers.

I have Audio in the menu of the game but when I get in it’s silent, and I followed all these steps and this is still the case. Any ideas?
