So you've ensured all your drivers are up to date I assume, I'm afraid I don't know much more about this topic personally so What I'll do is Get your PC specs just for good measure, and I'll tell the rest of the team and get back to you If I find anything out.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention, sometimes issues like this pop up on other rigs, but not our test machines.
GFX:Amd hd7970
RAM:16gb ddr3
cpu:i7 3770k
If you need more , please let me know. I don;t really know what info you would need.
Cheers for response.
Great game. It does seem to happen,as the one guy said in a thread I read- near water or during thunder. That's when it seems to kick off and just carries on from there.
I know what is causing your issue. I have had the exact same issue for a long time over many different versions of the game, and I fixed it finally!
It is the sample rate of your audio device.
I found out that using anything above 96khz causes severe sound distortion in this game only.
Go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback > Speakers > Properties > Advanced And change the Default Format. Try 44khz, and upscale it until you find the best result. 96khz should work, but I dont know that for sure. 44khz probably works 100%.
This is for Windows 7 btw, but it should work for other OS's as well.
I was using 192khz as default for everything, but for The Forest it doesnt work properly, and needs to be changed to 96khz for me.
I'm using a Creative X-Fi Fatality sound card, which allows for 24 bit 192khz playback.
Hey everyone,
Aside from Solenoid who already has, Can you post your specs please? (GPu, CPU, Mobo)
And most importantly, what kind of Audio system are you using? (realtek, x-fi, etc)
Thanks for any answers in advance!
SPECS:
GFX: Nvidia GEforce GTX 870m
CPU: Intel i7 4700HQ
RAM: 32GB
DISPLAY: 1920x1080 (In case it would've been an issue)
I tried adjusting my sound quality however it does nothing for me.
SPEC:
Intell i7-3740QMCPU @ 2.7GHZ 2.7GHz
16.0 GB Ram
Intel HD Graphics 4000
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
64-Bit Operating system Windows 10
HP-Envy dv7 Notebook PC
Edit: It also happens when there is a thunderstorm, it also seems to be causing a minor framerate drop. Also when pushing a log sled while running and having the cassette player play meanwhile, the music gets distored too and a bit slowed down, then stops after about 10-15 seconds although the energy hasn't refilled
On windows 8.1 it happens no matter what I use...
default microsoft high definition audio device drivers on fresh install
realtek audio driver
intel HD 4000 graphics which installs another HD audio driver
Has any progress been made to resolve it or at least confirm it does exist?
I'm using asus Q551LN
geforce 840m
i7 4510U
8GB ram
For anyone having Audio issues;
-right click on audio icon from taskbar
-click Playback devices
-select Speakers/HP (Whatever your Default is)
-click Properties
- go to Advanced tab
-uncheck "Enable audio enhancements"
- click Apply, click Ok.
Or you can try This Fix here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/242760/discussions/1/530649887219662515/
Also make sure your Audio drivers like Realtek, etc have the latest updates, especially if you updated to Win10. Reinstalling them may help too!
If none of this works, please list your specs, including your sound drivers, etc.
