Imagine there is a reticle about 3 inches (on the bow) above where the arrow is knocked. Aiming is tricky because at large distances the arrows will fall slightly. Try using it for mid range combat and don't forget to use L to light your arrows on fire if you have already been spotted, they pack a punch.
That's not easy to describe, but you are probably aiming it too high (from what I've seen in Youtube videos most people make that mistake). Try it on a deer and you will soon be able to calculate the path of the arrow.

Aim it kind of low, because the arrow flies almost straight if you are not very, very far away.

I found that it can be quite rewarding to practice it. Last time I played I managed to one-hit a walking cannibal from 30 feet away :D I was lucky I guess, but its surprising how accurately the bow can be used even without crosshair.

huh? am i the only one who can't hit anything with a bow? even at point blank range.
i thought this was a bug, but maybe i'll give it another try later.
also i was wondering what's the difference between the survival axe that you got from a stewardess corpse and the crafted stone axe with additional glass or cannibal's teeth

because it seems like it doesn't have any different in terms of damage at all, only crafted stone axe swing a bit slower than survival axe.

Haven't played 0.12 yet but in 0.11c it definitely worked well. Especially on deer (one-hit). Maybe you are overshooting as well?

hi

i just watched the flight of the arrow and did my best to calibrate it. Is it possible the coded a changing aimpoint to simulate the unrelability of making a scavenged bow? If I remember, I'll test this later and let y'all know what I find out.
The only time i hit things is by point blank, further away and i miss all the time.

I was annoyed at first also. Finally I got it. On the bump on the bow is a piece of cloth. If you intersect the top edge of this band of cloth(which is about mid-bump) and a vertical line straight up from the arrow... that is the crosshair. Although you usually have to aim just a tiny bit lower, so put that intersection below mid-target. I can now hit seagulls, rabbits, etc. a lot of the time. I did this to confirm my observation.
Now dat sorta sounds guud. though wish ya could craft some sort of crosshair for the bow with some stick and tree sap.
