Stealth armor? Yes or No?
I have been testing the stealth armor for the past 2 hours and have found to work quite well, it also seems to stack with mud. These are the tests i did. (Night and day)

1. Sneaking up to cannibals from behind
2. Sneaking up to cannibals from the front
3. Letting the cannibals walk past me
4. Sneaking through cannibal camps/caves

Now i did all tests with and without armor as well as armor and mud combined.

Without armor it seems the range of the cannibals sight seems to be quite large (Estimate around 20 metres for them to notice something, that something being you. 10-15 metres seems to be when they spot you and will become hostile or run off the get there pals. We all basically know this and thus i won't go into much detail here.

With armor however i was able to hide in a bush and have a cannibal walk RIGHT past me, i mean my face was right up in him. He just kept on walking looking for food completly oblivious to the arrow about to pierce his skull. Anyway getting off topic, i did this several times just to make sure and everytime i had it work. I tried this same technique without armor and they would spot me even from a fair distance (about 5-10 metres). Now sneaking through camps was downright ridiculous. I was able to clean out the large camp with 6 cannibals roaming around and not be spotted. Now that could have just been luck so i tried it 3 times and then 3 times without armor. Same conclusion as the last test. With armor i was not spotted once and without armor i was spotted all three times.

Now as to the sneaking up behind them i was always able to get right up to their gluteus maximus and not be noticed no matter if i had armor or not. But the sneaking from the front was a different story. Without armor and not using any bushes for cover i could get about 20-15 metres close before they saw me and i had to put them down. However, with armor i could get as close as 10-5 metres close!

The mud also appeared to have a slight effect of around 1-2 extra metres in all tests. I have yet to try chucking deer skin into the mix but i will get around to it and let you know how it goes.

Crouching? Well, running around as a walking bush isn't exactly camoflauge is it. However i did a lot of testing on this and i am confident to say that crouching has no affect on the actuall camoflauge all it affects is sound. I came to this conclusion by doing all tests but the one that 'proved' it was the "Sneaking up to cannibals from behind".

So, stealth armor? Yes or No?
I say yes, indeed yes. It is amazing and i would like to hear about your experience's with the armor. Eh, if i have to say armor one more time..

Anyway GW out.

I say yes but the game needs difficulty settings that may or may not effect stealth and AI agressivness. i.e

easy
normal
hard
extreame

I agree with you that 100%. It would be nice to also have a 'hardcore mode', where you have one life and if you die it deletes you save, like diablo 3 etc. :)

Do you need to put 5 pieces on? Why would deer "armor" stack? Does deer armor even really do anything at the moment?

I found that adding more pieces of armor just makes it more difficult for them to see you. As to deer armor it does appear to have a similar effect as the stealth armor just without providing protection :)

What about time of day when testing occured?
I was hiding in a bush during sunny morning (with stealth armor ofcourse) and was spotted in about 10 meters.

Only glitch I've found is that it doesn't carry through loading your save - no biggie though, leaves are abundant and I'm sure we all stack lizard skins. I can't get over how good the visual is as well -o-
