Crafting Recipes

Crafting is great fun, I am really enjoying this game so far.

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything:

Q: Do I accumulate new recipes into my crafting book ?

The answer seems to be no .. I accientally made myself a crude bow, pure dumb luck playing around with my inventory - but I don't see a recipe for a bow in my crafting book now.

I'm an older gamer, and how & when I play games has changed, I can no longer memorise the plethora of possible crafting solutions, nor am I time-rich enough to jump in, take notes, etc etc

Having the crafting book expand with my discoveries would be great.

It would be awesome if it expanded with crude, hand-written notes in the margins or whatnot .. like you have all the starter recipes (which may be added to over time) and then in the back the book is a NOTES section where all your accidental discoveries appear...

Enthusiastic about the game, sorry to turn a simple question into a ramble.

Am I supposed to remember all the various things I can craft, recipes for cooking, all that jazz ?

At this point there aren't very many things to craft really - the bow is in the DIY survival section, if I recall correctly, along with the stone axe and arrows.

Oh, to answer my own question, I found the "do it yourself crafting guide" in the margin of the book. It's kinda hidden.

Thanks Eyestalk - yeah, some handy recipes in there. Looking forward to cooking, farming, long-term-survival stuff.

I think the one confusing set of recipes that I don't see listed is the teeth + sap + weapon to improve damage. Not sure why glueing human teeth to something causes more damage, but (shrug). I glue about 100 teeth to the weak spear and it becomes a cannibal killing machine - about two blows and they are dead.

Also seen something about sap + feather + weapon speeds up the attack, but haven't tried that.
