Ok, does the game have nudity or not?

Preface: if you are going to get on hear and make an issue out of the fact some of us like to play games without nudity in it, get out, if thats your opinion then its fine, but I didn't make this so a bunch of guys on the internet could talk about how much they like looking at ♥♥♥♥ in their games.


Ok, main question, does this game have graphic nudity, I heard in a recent update they changed up some textures so It doesn't look explicit or anything. Yet Ive seen screenshots where its pretty much topless people runing around everywhere (which honestly, seem kinda childish to me, but whatever, each there own. Is there a way in game to censor it so those of use that don't want to see a bunch of crazy nude people running around can play the game and enjoy it?

I'm asking this because I'm wanting to buy the game, but if its full of nudity I"m not wasting my time with it

While the game has brief nudity, it is NOT exploited in a sexualized manner.

That alone, is a refreshing change.

Everything is nude in this game, I'm assuming once I find the mall I can locate a Gap and correct this problem.

I once invented something that could be used as a sex toy. I made only those adjustments that would sell more of them and ignored anyone who would be offended. I like The Forest the way it is, and I already bought the Alpha version because it looked interestng, and it is. If the devbs decide to Barbie it uip it will not make sense, and I can suspend disbelief only for so long before I have a problem fighting a Barbie who is attacking me... ummm... let me think about that a bit.

Well...I can name several ME nations that see it as a big problem. ;) But I undestand your point, I don't know of any other nation that takes such a strong stance against it like the US does. Perhaps it's due to its religious traditions instilled in our culture.

Well...that's not true at all. Swearing is allowed in US TV and has been for a while now.

However, there are some shows on some channels that may air at particular times that either censor it or tone it down.

There's a HUGE difference between the free networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) and the rest (Fox + all cable networks). You'll find less swearing on the former, but still find it. You'll find plenty on the latter.

But the reason for the difference between the US and other countries, is that in American culture swearing is considered vulgar or coarse where as in many other cultures it just doesn't carry that kind of negative connotation.

On Youtube I saw a video with TV fails, and some guy there said "sh-it" - everyone screamed and was shocked, and the majority of people in the comments couldn't understand what's so bad about this little word "sh-it" - again, it's mainly an American thing.

That's not an actual thing. That was either edited or taken out of context. Swearing is fairly normal in American TV.

US TV is regulated by the FCC. The FCC fined networks for swearing. So for a very long time, the networks just didn't do it...it cost money to swear. Challenges to the FCC policy have been made over the decades, and more leeway has been given over the years.

In 2012 the FCC decided that swearing was no longer a fineable offense so we have a little more swearing today than in the past.

Still only an extremely small minority of potential customer was offended by the displayed nudity, so it would neither be a worthwhile step to change everything, nor would it be fair towards the majority, which is perfectly happy with how the game is right now.

How do you know it was an "extremely small minority"? Just because there are a few threads in the STEAM forums does not mean it was a "extreme small minority." People who speak up about things represent a statistical portion of those who do not, yet feel the same way. That's just a fact.

Secondly, adding an option filter isn't tough work. It's very, very easy to do. ;)

Tyranny of the majority only happens, when you steal the minority the rights, that everyone else has. For example, what Hitler did to the Jews. But only because you don't accomplish every single desire of the minority, that's not discrimination. In fact, if you give the minority too many rights, then the majority will start feeling disadvantaged. Best example: feminism. What do women want? Equality. Just the same rights as men. And that's fine. But feminists want even more - they want MORE rights than men.

Yes...but in this case it is not applicable. The "minority" is not demanding "too many rights or changes." Here, there is a request to add a simple, optional, filter...nothing more.

No one suggested anything of the sort. They merely requested an OPTIONAL filter so that people who prefer to play w/o boobies, can. And those who don't mind boobies at all, can play with their boobies. :)

It's not complicated.

First of all, some nice explaining about US tv rules about swearing. I have been wondering bout that for some time now.
About the filter option.. if they add it what more will be demanded? Maybe some dont want to see a kid get taken at the start, so they might need an option to turn it in an adult? And about the canibals, some might prefer carebears?? And instead of chopping off limbs to cook as food.. well, you get my point.
And those are actually all way more disturbing than a bare nipple if you ask me. So instead of covering everything with filters I think an 18+ label should be enough. Or if bare nipples are really such a big deal, maybe they should create a new nipple icon for all those who are so offended by the body part that fed them :)

Well...that's called a slippery slope fallacy. ;) The request for a nudity filter is not exactly an uncommon request. And just because that one request is made it does not mean there is a logical connection to any other changes to be requested.

It's like saying "We shouldn't change marriage to also mean same sex couples because it would lead marriage being redefined to including 3 or more people, animals, or even inanimate objects."

or...

"We should not legalize pot because it would lead to people legally doing meth, selling cocaine, and eventually buying acid over the counter where children could find them."

It's a rather silly line of argumentation because there is no logical basis for it and the objection to it (not being grounded in logic, but a violation of it) is a disconnect.

it reminds me of the south park ep when they get the ninja weapons and butters gets hurt and at the end cartmen gets naked on stage and no 1 cared that butters got a star in the eye they cared more for the nudity, sounds like these kids

Dude.. if you're close enough to see the female's boobs you're in trouble. There is always a leader lurking close by.

That level of nudity adds to the realistc effects in the game. Watch documentaries about african tribes and you'll understand what I mean. Primitive tribes tend to not care about bareskin...

I'd be curious to see what those who prefer to game w/ a nudity filter on, think about watching documentaries about primitive tribes found in Africa, S America, and Asia. What about movies about featuring or about these tribes?

What about art from the classical or Renaissance era? Was Michelangelo a perv? Were Greek artists?
