Let me know if you need anything else...
* Internal Realtek High Definition Audio (Driver Version 6.3.9600.16384)
* YAMAHA MG10XU Mixer with Yamaha's own low latency drivers
I assume, that "echo" refers to all sounds playing twice, like around one tenth of a second after the original sound it just plays again.
In very low resolution and windowed mode the bug disappears but it comes back when there are too many things going on at the same time. I guess it just lacks optimization for some hardware.
I updated every possible driver, I followed a complete guide on how to tweak games on windows. By now I launch the game using Razer Cortex wich helped run ARMA3 at frame speed x2 (!!!). But nothing helped for the forest and it's really not fun for a game.
I will never buy nor advise this game as long as this annoying bug prevents ppl to play.
As for the audio bug problem, I'm getting the problem on one of my laptops. I was able to play with no problems at all on my first laptop last night for the duration of my adventure. However, I play it on this laptop today and I get an echo. I've hunted around with no success, I'm just gonna jump back in with or without a fix.
I know the thread is old, but I had the same problem and did a bit of research on reddit and found the following fix to work for me.
1. Follow the path were your game is located:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Forest.exe
2. Right-click on the application and select properties.
3. Go the the compatibility tab and change it to your system (I changed mine to windows 7)
4. Launch the game from the application and the problem should be gone now?
I haven't noted any change in gameplay and it runs as normal without the echo.
Hope it helped you guys! :)
