Sound echo
I'm having the above listed problem... Is there any kind of fix for that?

And, is there gonna be any boost in performance? A large boost? I can play the game on lower settings and I have enough even for recommended requirements, but I still get low FPS on any higher settings. Btw, when I have 30FPS, I consider that enough and I do not care at all about 60FPS.

I have not heard of an "echo" bug yet. are any of your other games getting this? If not I am wonderingif tinkering with the sound options may help ya. Maybe the game did not detect your sound card right or something. As far as FPS, there is not a ton of tweaking yet to be had, but there is a few helpful hints on tweaking the game out there. I would start with a search of the forums. Could be a pinned subject on it,

None of the other games have that problem.. just this one and it's since the last update. I'm not complaining too much, 'cause it's Alpha and it will be fixed. I hope. They seem devoted to finish this "project".

If you could figure out what your sound card is and let me know that might help us! We know people are having this issue but can't reproduce it ourselves! trying to find a common trait in people having the issue but it is being difficult.

I've had an echo for quite a while now. Makes the game hard to play as it's very distracting and quite annoying. My computer has been struggling with unity but this problem was before the switch anyways. It looks like my sound card is: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. Not very tech savvy, but from what I can tell that's the only thing active. I did manage to get an audio recording and post to YouTube.

Let me know if you need anything else...

Lol I can't believe they did not fix this yet ... That's the only reason i'm bot buying this game lel. First thing to do in alpha development is make sure that your players can play the game otherwise they won't be testing it anymore xD

Hi guys, I too have this issue for quite a while with both of my sound cards:
* Internal Realtek High Definition Audio (Driver Version 6.3.9600.16384)
* YAMAHA MG10XU Mixer with Yamaha's own low latency drivers

I assume, that "echo" refers to all sounds playing twice, like around one tenth of a second after the original sound it just plays again.

yes that's the problem . Sometimes the problem is disabled when playing in windowed mode in the lowest resolution . Wich is silly ^^ and the game is unplayable this way. It makes me think about FL Studio or any DAW : when the memory of the computer gets overrunned a huge usage of plugins and effects, the sound clips.
In very low resolution and windowed mode the bug disappears but it comes back when there are too many things going on at the same time. I guess it just lacks optimization for some hardware.

I updated every possible driver, I followed a complete guide on how to tweak games on windows. By now I launch the game using Razer Cortex wich helped run ARMA3 at frame speed x2 (!!!). But nothing helped for the forest and it's really not fun for a game.

I will never buy nor advise this game as long as this annoying bug prevents ppl to play.

Woah buddy, there is no reason to get so upset. It's just a small audio bug. The game is otherwise still fantastic. I'm getting the very same problem but it's not preventing me from playing. I'm thinking it of an extra half second to recognize danger and react. Just relax, check back from time to time, a fix may come up. Might be fixed in the next update, who knows? Just don't attack the game or the devs because of a tiny little bug.

As for the audio bug problem, I'm getting the problem on one of my laptops. I was able to play with no problems at all on my first laptop last night for the duration of my adventure. However, I play it on this laptop today and I get an echo. I've hunted around with no success, I'm just gonna jump back in with or without a fix.

Hi Guys

I know the thread is old, but I had the same problem and did a bit of research on reddit and found the following fix to work for me.

1. Follow the path were your game is located:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Forest.exe
2. Right-click on the application and select properties.
3. Go the the compatibility tab and change it to your system (I changed mine to windows 7)
4. Launch the game from the application and the problem should be gone now?

I haven't noted any change in gameplay and it runs as normal without the echo.

Hope it helped you guys! :)

For those who still read this. The above solution only works for windows 7 users. Windows 10 users have no compatibility option. You can switch it to windows 7 on windows 10 and it will reduce the echo slightly to a more playable format. But other than that. Windows 10 users will have to wait for a patch.
