How to light fire torch?

I've made a fire torch, stick + cloth. It's showing up as a "Upgraded Stick" but i can't seem to light it.

as fox said, you need to click on it to equip it then hold L to light it. It is handy but does not last long enough. It can be used as a weapon though and is very potent against the natives. I would rather it stay lit a lot longer and do 0 damage to the natives. So it is used strickly as a torch.

You can simply craft stick with cloth and hold L on it, which'll make it work probably
