Anyone else having this problem? I'm just too damn scared to play this game. I find myself running like hell to chop down trees and rush back to camp asap. Here that sound turn around, 3 of em stairing at you. Gives me the creeps. All I watch are horror movies too but this game, this game, something about being in the woods all by yourself just adds to it.

And also, I got pissed one day. There was only one of em. I took out my ax and started beating him with it. He just wouldn't go down. I was covered in blood and he was killing me so I rushed back to my cabin. HE WOULD NOT LEAVE, I could hear him all night, and the next day, and the next night. I started over.

How much does it take to kill them, or was that a glitch? I must have hit him 30 times.

For para 2.. make abow. and get good at it. Great for sitting in treehouse at night and killing the ones that lingor by and wont let you sleep, Lighting the arrow on fire is a sure fire way to one hit kill them

As far as scary, I guess it is different for us all. I would be lying if I did not say I have been spooked before ato the point I slightly jumped. Mostly by turning around to see a native right there. As far as the whole game in general. NO not yet anyhow. I did fear the caves for awhile but turned on veganmode (long time ago) and explored them all. Now if I die I have a general ifdea where I am and fastest way out. I also learned crouching whilst walking in caves can get you very far. I personally hope game gets scarier. On a side note. One thing that does creep me out is the baby mutants crawling around in the caves. They just freak me out and I want to kilem all, and I can not put them little buggers out of their misery.

When I started playing this game, I had no clue how to handle the cannibals. I died several times during the first night, and got really traumatized by them. Just hearing that piano sound made my heart jump out of my chest.

I was also very bad at fighting them (still am, actually) - but over time, you find ways to get around.

I then started building on the small islands, and with every new patch, as I got braver, I began building deeper in the forest. Maybe that's a good way to start?

As for the fighting: I rarely use the axe to kill them (takes too many chops and stamina). I use the axe to block, and kill them with fire (standing fires. molotovs. fire-arrow,...)
Most of the time, I try to avoid a fight.

If there's a cannibal hanging around your base and won't leave, just let him be. Go on with your business, and hold the block when you're passing him :-)

thank you, i'll try fire. And that cannible around my base. He wasn't just hanging out. I know they don't normally even attack unless you get to close to them but this guy ( I assume becuase I hit him so many times) was outside growling or whatever noice they make. He never left attack mode. I was sick of waking up in caves so I just restarted. Thanks for the kill tip. Now I can get em.

If you get really pissed off, you could also turn on "veganmode" which makes the cannibals dissapear from the game. Or you can use "vegetarianmode", so they only come at night. But in my opinion, vegetarianmode is just more scary, because then u know that they are going to come at night. Some call this cheating, But, It's your choice right?

Should be a cool feeling when the sun is going down, and you know not much time is left before THEY are coming :-)

To some extent, yes. The cave system particularly is where the majority of the fear factor comes from, tbh.

I was pretty much the same. Bought it, played about an hour max, then never really played again until my friend bought it. Try playing in co-op with someone, there's someone there to watch your back and share that fear factor a little. Also, like others have said, get well acquainted with the bow (fire arrows are a must) and molotovs. I've gone from someone who was too afraid to play the game, to someone who goes out at night and actively hunts them (stealth armor + crouching).

lame yea it's horror game but you easy play wtihout meet any horror things, just keep away from the underground and the other things ir's really easy and im normal dont like horror games but The Forest is way to awesome and fun to say no to and if you dont like night in the game then build something to sleep in, i think night is okey but you cant see a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing so i just sleep ingame when it get night

i no longer have the a.i on,not because im scared but because they are borked,running through walls getting stuck on things and just out right daft they are not ready yet to be played with but im sure when they are they will be scary to some point.
