How do i collect water?

Ok so I'm reading that i need to collect water and then boil it to make it safe to drink. Baffled right now as to how i collect it, I've made a few rain collectors in my base, i can drink out of small ponds, although it's not safe and harms me a little bit, and i can't drink out of the sea or the lakes, don't know how to collect water.

Any help?

Got rain collectors already, looks like i need to find a bucket or an old cooking pot, cheers.

the cooking pot is all over the place at survivor capms then go to pond fill it with dirty water then add it to campfire

Kill turtles, grab some sticks and make a water collector. Also you can carry water with you using a waterskin, just murder a deer in a very brutal way and take it's skin. But you need 2 deer skins, so you have to murder 2 deers in a very brutal way and take their skin to make a waterskin.

You also can grab a pot, fill it with water and purify the water using a campfire.
