i always play in vegetarian cause i try to get prepared for the night, its more fun ;)
"The player can press some key combinations while at the main menu screen to activate or deactivate the different game modes.
In order to activate these modes, the player must type:
veganmode = No cannibals;
vegetarianmode = Cannibals spawn only at night;
meatmode = Reset the cannibals to spawning as designed.
ironforest = Toggles whether cannibals can destroy buildings.
After the successful activation of a code, the game's logo will change to something different in each case:
veganmode: changes the font style to white camel-case and adds the line "An open world adventure".
vegetarianmode: changes the font color to red. "The Forest" is otherwise written using the default style (all-uppercase).
meatmode: resets the logo to the default (yellow and all-uppercase).
ironforest: adds or removes a yellow "iron" above the "Forest".
This is very useful if the player is new to the game, and wishes to explore the island. The player can also build and gather materials for his base, preparing for the long and dangerous nights ahead that will be encountered after changing the mode back to the proper "meat-mode"."

Hope that helps
Mod API gives you the ability to use cheats like 'spawn command' (console codes that spawn almost any/all props in game), 'inventory mod' (gives items on click, including some items you can't get otherwise (seagul head anyone?)), 'cheat menu' (a mod that gives control over many aspects of the game, this includes godmode, flight, no-clip, control over player speed/jump, speed of time control, time of day control, etc.
There's a mod for an in-game map (the same map from theforestmap.com)
