Location of flare gun

I've been playing the game for a while now and I think all the passenger bodies have disappeared along with the pilot. I swam out to the boat and still couldn't find the flare gun!! Does anyone know anywhere else I can get one from and is it worth the effort

you can find flare guns in random caves and cannibal camps, i personally never use it excpet to make fights "cinematic" (i fire a flare into a mob of cannibals before i rush in tossing molotvs and bombs at them). it can one hit kill regular cannibals and does massive damage to mutants though.

Afaik the Flare gun is currently bugged anyway. Regardless how many flares you have in your inventory - it will run out of ammo and cannot be reloaded.


You can find the flare gun in one of the underground caves.

The flare gun hasn't been on the sailboat for a LONG time now. For some reason, people confuse the road flares with flare gun ammo. It's not the same, so one only gets a limited amount of flare gun ammo. I think it's to be saved for the end of the game myself.

The easiest flare gun to get is still in cave 1 / 2. The cave 1 entrance was by the anchor on the beach, but was relocated and one must repel down. The cave 2 entrance is east of the main (west) beach, kind of inline with the peninsula. Use the cave 2 entrance and stick to the right...hang on the wall. Crouching helps if there are blue-skins inside. While the cave layout has changed over the last few updates, the flare gun is still by one of the pilots slumped over a seat.
