Does Single play require an internet connection?
I just got the game, and when it didn't work on co-op I didn't think a lot of it since my internet is very poor. But the game isn't running very well on single player either. (My system should not be the issue.)

If its low FPS and stutter it'd just be the system. Either out of date drivers, forced setting in the GFX cards control panel, other processes, or just hardware etc.
Single player does not need an active internet connection, only of course what Steam requires, and it can be run offline anyway.
