If your're dead you do not respawn. But you can save your game at your shelters.

So you only get one life?

no dont listen to him if you die they drag you in the cave you then have the chance to get out and go back to your base if you die twice its game over, however if you saved you can just load your game and carry on from last save.

Keep in mind that when a new update comes out most of the time you loose your saved game. You should know that before you buy the game and invest a lot of time building a massive fort only to loose it and have to start over.

Just thought he needed fair warning that it has and could happen again.

Also, you cant have multiple save games, there is only one slot for a saved game. You can however have multiple locations where you can save your game.

I've been captured or completely killed several times and never lost a save so no matter what goes wrong, and it will sooner or later, you can start over where you left off. However, I'm of the opinion that you should start a new game with any major update as changes to the map and AI often cause glitches. The last patch wreaked some havoc with my old save; terrain changes put a few of my camps under rocks, etc, and the cannibals and mutants were constantly attacking my main base 24/7 nonstop.

I agree. I always start a new game after an update. I usually play a few hours and then stop to wait for the next update. Played a little more than usual after the last update because they opened up the other half of the island.
