Can't drink water, can't fill waterskins.

I've an issue where I can't drink any water, no matter where I am in the puddle, underground lake or river. When I first built my waterskin it duplicated itself and I'd to reload to get it off the 'crafting pad' as there was one there and one in my inventory.
I've tried pretty much every water source and usually find myself dying of thirst by day 5.
I know I'm supposed to get a lips prompt to drink or a C prompt for my waterskin but it just isn't showing up.
Any idea what's wrong? Will I have to restart? I've a decent area mapped out and am now running expeditions further out since I have loads of logs, sticks, rocks and food on a drying rack. I've also lizard armour and stealth armour so losing the save would be disappointing.

Not every pond seems to give water. Have you tried the turtle shell to collect water. Also hold the 'cooking pot' in your hand while it's raining.

Found the turtle shell, cooking pot and a pond with polluted water that let me fill my waterskin.
Finished building a tree house, went down to build a fire pit and got knocked out. Kept exploring the caves. One bomb wouldn't kill leg thing, what on earth do I need to kill it? I was in the process of equipping the flare gun when it got me :(

Ummm... run as fast and far as possible. You probably don't have anything to kill that thing with. Don't waste time with an axe or bow and arrow or molotov. If you have a bom maybe you can run up close and stick it into the things mouth! before it kills you. Sneak, run..... But if you do kill it, let me know how!

For me the flaming arrows actually worked pretty nice. When she catches fire she starts running around in panic for a few seconds. After several arrows she ran away, so I cant say I killed her. Also had an armsy around, so I did not chase legsy

It takes a couple of molotovs/fire arrows to kill them. Some slices with the axe help as well.

As for the water: you can drink booze and soda cans, or even eat berries when you are thirsty. But the turtle shell is the best solution.
