Converting singleplayer to multiplayer
Hey people.
I was wondering if its possible to convert a single player game to a multiplayer game? A save game that is ofc.
Honestly i dont know where it saves the files and i dont know if its compatible, but perhaps someone else have already tred it?
Would love to show my build to freinds hehe.

Yes, it is possible. Backup your files in each of the "Slot<x>" folders you have in either "Singleplayer" and "Multiplayer" folders in your personal seed folder in %appdata%\..\LocalLow\SKS\TheForest (Windowskey+R -> copy and paste that, hit Enter) and then copy over the contents from eg Multiplayer\Slot1 to Singleplayer\Slot4 where Slot4 in Singleplayer is a folder you created manually since there was no saved slot in slot 4 yet.

Also, feel free to zip one of those dirs and pass it on to someone so they can experience your map on their own.

Hope that wasn't too complicated ;) The important files are the RESUME files, not sure what the rest of the files does except for the image which is the thumbnail preview pic for save/load menu.

Enjoy ;)

Thanks for the reply, im writing from a friends account.
I will have to try it out, sounds very easy :)

Im building a big base on an island with bridges to the mainland, in singleplayer, so it would be nice to play with my friends in it hehe.

Are you sure they are 100% compatible? eg. singleplayer save games support more players then just the one and such?
Just want to gather as much information as possible, before i actually try it out + im still building so dont want to share it yet haha!

And just to clarify, this is the entire folder path:
C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\LocalLow\SKS\TheForest\*lots-of-numbers*
Theres a Singleplayer and Multiplayer folder located in there :) Thx again for the info.

Yes, I am 100% certain about this as I tried it myself. First multiplayer into singleplayer, then saved singleplayer state which was a multiplayer save state previously back to multiplayer, host, invite, load, have them connected as usual, play, enjoy :)

And yes, you are right about the directory ;)

Thanks dude!
I hoped there would be a way.
I was to start an ongoing MP, so that other players can carry on playing if they don't have the latest save. At least like this we can send the last save to each other to keep the game current.

Is this solution now redundant?, reading elsewhere suggests it cant be done anymore. If so thats a real shame...

it works. did it many times.

savegames are in ur systemfolder under

'.../windows/users/<yourwindowsusername>/appdata/locallow/sks/theforest/...'

there are 2 folders: multi- and singleplayer
just copie the folder u want (slot1-5)

BUT Logsleds that are build in single not usable in multiplayer.

if u join a server as a client ur game will be saved in the "cs" folder (clientsave)
u could backup this if u want to join different servers
Ol'Dirty Oct 26, 2016 @ 3:45pm
its possible to zip the folders and share it with ur mates. no problem

edit: i did it not since the last updat (0.48)...
before 0.48 it works fine ....

Just tested this, and it worked perfectly for me

Is it still up? Having problems having a save after i copied it from Singleplayer/Slot1 to Multiplayer/Slot1. Even started a new multiplayer save to overwrite it with the sp save. Any ideas?
