I cannot sleep through the night.
Why do I keep waking up in darkness? When I sleep during the day, I'll wake up at night. If I sleep again, It'll be darker. If I sleep again, it'll be darker still. Am I sleeping for 30 minutes at a time here? I can't make it day time again.

If your playing in normal mode then it means mutants are nearby and they "woke you up".

Looking at the shelters. I can understand. My hut spawned a load of un-pickupable logs earlier.

If you wake up without natives arround, then its probably morning, just still very ealry and dark - wait a minute till the sun comes up.

Take a look around your camp for sitting cannibals. I could not sleep as well and I could not see or hear any cannibals. Went outside and sure enough there was a guy sitting there doing nothing. Killed him, went to sleep.

Or as Arioch Suggested, might be early morning so wait a few .

After you've constructed a shelter, you should have the options:

"C" to save game
"Z" to sleep

If you wake up during the night, it always means cannibals are nearby.
It's like a sixth sense that wakes you.

I have a fully enclosed fort South of the plane on Goose Lake. I always get awakened by scary music, and always can spot mutants prowling around and shining lights everywhere. One night I awakened and looked down from the porch of my tree house. There were at least 5 mutants 'inside my fort!!!!'. I activated my bow and flaming arrow and shot the leader(with the headlamp), and then shot two more who were just standing around.

The rest all ran to one corner of the fort and disappeared. The sun was coming up, so I went down and went to check the corner of the fort, where I also have a door. I went outside, looking left, and was ambushed. Cave time! Crap.... ????HTF did they get inside my fort? HTF are they so intelligent that they waited several minutes for me to step outside the gate to get me?
