Templars Mod for The Forest (DOES NOT WORK WITH CURRENT VERSION)
So I have decided to try my hand at modding The Forest again! I get soo many requests every single day I just can't take it anymore LOL

Because Im not really playing the game much at the moment, and the game has changes SO MUCH code-wise since I last modded, I need people to try things out for me

MOD Download : http://filebeam.com/80a203f36e58bc884cc4c61f0105c26d

Unzip into The Forest folder, it will replace 1 file (to revert your game, use Steams Local Verification)

Mod Contents - AI :
FOV reduced to 90 degrees
very-close distance reduced to 20m
Aggressive Combat more varied
Standard Combat more varied and more likely to break off
Defensive Combat more likely to break off, more likely to attack from flanks
Daytime Searching further, and remember player longer
Daytime Stalking from further away, more likely to use trees
Default Stalking from further away, more likely to back off and to use trees
Less Mutants on the first few days, many more after a week
Possible to get more Vags and Armsy above ground at any time

Mod Contents - Building :
Creative mode (currently always on, and currently doesn't remove the required items from the hud)

If you feel up to it. Test it. tell me if things are still working as expected.

What else do people REALLY want in a mod? Please keep in mind that some of the features of the mod previously were so complicated I am not going to bother with those again (like all the graphical modification keys, and the changes to the phone)

Also, currently there is no marking on the menu to tell you the mod is installed. that will come later

I'm so conflicted. I wan't to download and test this but I also want to just wait and see what they do with the upcoming patch.
Pumpis Jun 12, 2014 @ 11:26pm
It sounds like you´re doing the developers job! Well done! I havent tested it yet but will as soon as I have time (later today). I like your initiative!

In all likelihood the Devs will create a feeling different to my mod. they have their own vision for the game that I am clueless on! Plus I do changes for my own personal reasons and not really to "fix" anything

Works great, is it possible to have separate files with max graphics settings ?

Is this slowing your machine down? Lowering Draw Distance will lower the Grass distance as well
Razr Jun 12, 2014 @ 11:45pm
Actully its running perfect, but i wanted to see how it will run with all max graphics enabled even if we can increase grass and draw distance even further, i noticed the shadow draw distance is low to. I got a gtx 680 water cooled wanted to test its limits :) always want to see how pretty this came can look.

Andrew pointed me to regedit to edit the configs from there but i dont know what is the max values and noticed some dont have values so i got confused.

Just an idea for the extreme users.

Cheers mate

I assume your mod and the no more birds mod are incompatible. Both utilize the csharp.dll

What saddens me is that the community is adressing the fixes faster than the devs. Your mod makes perfect sense when you've played the game.

IMHO, email the devs and ask them the put your mod in the final release, or at least tweak it to their likings. Not only does it save them time, but it balances things out and makes the game more playable for everyone else. Worst comes to worst, they say no and this ends up being something like DSFix.

Though, something I need to add is that the way that cannibals are handling things atm might be just a test run; just essentially to make sure that the cannibals even /work/. I wouldn't be at all shocked if the next 3 updates completely trash this mod. I'd be sad, but not shocked.

tl;dr Great idea, email the devs, don't surprised if this gets trashed next update.

Yeh its a shame that someone improving the game gets treated like this by closing there thread.

Keep up the great work.

At least Templar had the idea to cooperate with Andrew to combine their mods into a big mod, so you can have both after the next Forest patch.

Remember, Im not actually trying to make the game. All I have is the game and a lot of spare time!
Also, I haven't really "fixed" anything just tweaked. Tweaking like this, generally comes at the end of the development when all the aspects are in the game.

The Devs have an update timeline that they are following. The game has literally updated more than 3 times since its release. Not saying they were the best updates but they did push some important fixes. Also note that Templar is not adding additional content or further expanding upon the game. he is altering the coding thats already there.

Put this mod in the final release? the final release could be a year or more away. By that time who knows how drastically the game will be. They could have added balances similar to what is found in this mod.

the devs have addressed the bugs and have even talked about how the new patch will have a lot of fixes and additional content. In 2 days time they will be pushing a new version that will solve a lot of problems and add new content. And you're seriously complaining they are taking too long? It's just a 2 day difference and they will be adding a lot more than this mod.

with that said I am happy people like Templar and the bird mod person exist. They will always be welcome to mod the game to their taste. The devs have even welcomed modding if I'm not mistaken.

Exactly. Tara was happy on twitter that people like these exist, and trying to make the game better. She wanted to open also a subforum for them (not sure if made already)

Tara, twitter:
Modding is fantastic! As long as you guys aren’t redistributing the game, it’s cool.

Templar, keep up the good work. I'll wait for the new oficial update, and then, if you update also your MOD, I will for sure try it!
