They work, but need patient and time. The rabbits despawn quick in the traps dunno why

Do you have to put them in the exact path rabbits seem to take? I have one trap set up and have only seen 1 rabbit get caught while all the others just run pass it.

Apparently rabbit traps are broken in the latest update -- I am told. You can catch the rabbit in the trap, but you are no longer able to pick it up alive and place it in a cage. What is supposed to happen is an option "E" to pick up the rabbit, then "E" to reset the trap. Instead, what is happening is you just reset the trap and it instantly re-triggers, since there is already a rabbit in the trap.

They worked 2 updates ago, but after the last update so far I have been unable to retrieve the rabbits or lizzards from the traps.

Yes, most recent update broke being able to take anything out of the traps and put them in the cage. You can still kill the rabbits and pick up their meat though.

I have found that rabbit traps are catching rabbits nearly instantly so no need to breed them, just kill and re-trigger

They do work. Although they are glitchy, as people have noted, if you are slow and careful, and crouch, one side of the trap in particular seems to have a better time (Facing open side of trap, I use the left 'wall') crouch and press e rapidly until you get the bunny, then carry it home to the cage. I literally just caught 2 and got them home safe.
