is there any safe place to hide?
I have only played through a few times and didn't last very long. it seems like when i try to build a camp before i get it finished the cannibals always seem to hunt me down. I know i can safly go back up in the plane. Plus i am not sure how the stealth system works or if its even implimented yet. does crouching and stickign tot he shdaows help with not being detected

the ocean, the mutants cant swim. Use the flare gun on the mutants, best defence.

I can not guarantee you that it does but, I know if you covor yourself in mud it is supposed to attribute more to your camoflauge. Not sure if it is actually effective yet.

I seen the cannibals walking in the water and was thinking about using one of them deserted small islands to set up camp. but can you even carry logs in the water?plus getting logs to that point would be a major pain.

I will try the mud sugestion next time and test it out see if it is effective.

Yeah you can carry logs while swimming, but it is a major pain and time consuming also, they can follow you back to your hideout by simply walking under the water. there is a spot that i always set a simple camp and never get noticed by them. its a small beach below one of the large trees, not far from the boat. also if you swim to the boat look under the water theres a flare gun that you can pick up by forcing yourself under the boat, you will get a chance to pick it up :)

walk to the boat and swimm left from there, swim in the whater till you see sand. It's enaugh room to build everything you need, trow logs off the cliff into your camp.
I have it saved there and just wait now till I can build a raft, my plan is to drive with my raft around the coastlines and make little checkpoints all over the coastline ;)
I never got attacked once being in my camp!
(excuse my english, I'm German)

I camp on a cliffside, when they come i hit them off the cliff. Platforms are good too, they arent good at walking up them. doorways, too.
AthleticGal Jun 8, 2014 @ 10:41pm
I am assuming they cant get inside a log cabin. though i cant imagine the resources and time it would take to build one.

Lol that sounds like the beach i build on i call it Black Sand beach it has a small boat on it, there is a small gully that you walk up into a larger gully north of that is a large village.

I don't build where I sleep. Hands down, that's how you wind up with trouble. I have a logging camp well away from where I sleep, and I light decoy standing fires at dusk to cover my ass as I head off to sleep/save.

I also don't cook where I sleep. I draw NO attention to where I sleep other than my comings/goings at dusk/dawn, and I build it away from the patrol routes.

That said, it isn't easy finding places that are free of dawn/dusk patrols, although I did find a craggy pass along the coast near a boat wreck that is just far enough and out of sight enough that the two dawn patrols don't notice me as the check the beach (and check out my standing fire)

It's in the shadow of a large cliff with a gnarled tree. For LOS reasons, I prefer the base camp rather than risk the openness of being above.

Even if I fight, it's on the beach and out of LOS of my temporary shelter.
