Effigy meanings?

I heard they are supposed to mean something (the AI is meant to have its own customs and religion, right?) when the cannibals place them outside your camp. I came across one that isn't recorded anywhere on the wikis I can find.

Its 2 sticks in a U shape. Something (nose? testicle?) followed by a finger and then a bundle of sticks all hanging from a rope.

Anyone know what it means? or are they completely meaningless and its just speculation?

it means they know where you are and want to scare you away and that it is their forest so prepare for attacks more often.

It means you aren't scared anymore. Youv'e had your first experiance and your'e ready to ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ up! I don't think the work but meh, if you have an Effigy, you can look after yourself in the first place!

It is possible to pray, I saw one of them, who wears a mask, praying, while it lifted the arms towards the sky several times.

You shopuld have seen his friends. My camp was surrounded by no less than 7 patrols walking around my camp at all hours of the day. 2 of them eating the dead bodies on the beach. I also had about 4-5 effigies around my camp.

The number of mutants in this game is too damn high. At this rate, how do they get enough food for them all?
