How to get cooked food off fire

How do you get food back off the fire when cooking it? I cant see an option, the food just stays there forever even after its cooked

Press C to eat it. Can't store it in your inventory as far as I know.

Its cooks fast so dont leave for too long

you press C to put it on you press E to eat it

It cooks in about 20-30 seconds, haven't actually counted. If you leave it too long, it'll burn and you won't be able to remove the food from the fire. At the moment you'll just have to build a new fire and try again on that one. There's also a bug that stops you being able to cook on it once you've cooked a rabbit, you won't be able to cook on that fire again. Also if you have to relight fires after they have gone out they don't seem to work for cooking either.

Put the cursor on the piece you want, and if the 'E' icon shows up, LM click. If you can't get the 'E' icon, hit 'R' first, they try again. The change in putting food on and taking it off the food rack and the fire has caused problems for me.

Just to clarify, When the food has finished cooking and is ready to eat an icon will appear identical to the icon you get when you come to a berry bush with ripe berries on it - a circle around the letter "E". That same circle will appear right above the fire when your food is ready to eat. Sometimes I have to move a little bit to see the icon but that is what to look for in order to eat your cooked food.
