Guide to the cave system

I just finished exploring and roughly mapping how the cave system is connected.

The cave system is much larger than just the area where you spawn when you die.

First of all there are three entrances:
1: This is the one with a wooden wall blocking it that you have to cut with an axe. It is near the die spawn zone. It comes out behind the village with the large building near the coast. This is the village near the plane's cockpit.

2: This one is behind the other large village next to the lake that is inland from the shipwrecked yacht.

3: This one is near #2 but is on the beach just along from the dead shark near the shipwrecked yacht.

Things of interest:
Death cave - the first time you die you wake up in a cave with a fire and two tables. There are various supplies on the table, axe, food medicine etc. You will also find rags in here. There is a flare gun at the other end of the cave from the tables. There is hole you can crawl out of near the tables to exit (there will be a crouch prompt).

As you come out of the death cave, the next big cave has 3x mutants that drop from the roof and attack you. To exit this cave there is a large uphill exit. If you follow this exit all the way to the end you will get to entrance #1.

However on the way to entrance #1 you will find some hanging bodies and possibly a few boxes (they may not be there). The boxes are hiding a another path (you can walk through them).

This is where the rest of the cave system is that joins up with entrance #2 and 3. This area is complicated with several dead ends and a single loop (ie you can walk in a circle).

Just inside this area is a room with a body surrounded by candles. Here you will find a flashlight.

In this area:
Near entrance #3 there is a super-mutant. She is female with two torsos and multiple arms. She also has several legs and will try to attack you by kicking you with two legs. I think she is invincible - flares, molotovs and bombs did not do anything to her.

There is a very large cave with creepy music (dead end) that has a lot of hanging bodies. In fact there are several caves with hanging bodies but only this one has music. As you look at each body a status message will appear like "1/130 passengers found". Thus there must be 130 bodies hidden in the caves. I do not know what happens when you find them all.

Near the music cave you will find 2x circuit boards on the ground near a path fork.

There is another cave that has 2x super mutants. These guys have multiple arms and legs and appear to flail the arms around to try and hit you. However these guys will not walk towards you and just stand there, so you can easily avoid them. They seem to invincible to everything except a bomb.

I have found caves are good for running away from mutants above ground as they will not follow you into the cave. Thus is a good place to rest and wait out night time.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention there is a cave with normal mutants in it too, possibly another cave (from YouTube - but did not spawn them when I explored).

Also the cave is very buggy, ie stuff pops in, daylight gaps, can get stuck, fall through floor etc. Lighting is very bad, very dark until a light pops in. Lighter and torch almost useless.

Finished exploring the second smaller cave system.

This one has two entrances:
1 - near the big anchor, just walk along the beach towards the anchor and away from dead shark to the cliff
2 - this one is inside the forest from the peninsula that separates the yacht and anchor beaches.

Both entrances lead to the first cave which has normal mutants.

If you continue deeper you will find another mutant cave, then a large dead end cave with two male and one female super mutant.

Also I discovered the molotov makes a better light than the lighter, just equipment and run around with it out. Just be careful not to drop it and burn yourself.

The flares are also a good light source for the big caves as they light up a very large area and last a long time. You can hold them or throw them on the ground. You will find them on the yacht.

A = #1

B = #3 - note: if you walk over the hill behind the entrance (ie keep walking in direction of image number 4) you will get to the big village I use as a reference

#2 - go to where your beach cave image is, turn left and walk directly inland, you should come across a large lake in the forest in that area, on the other side of the lake is a village, the cave entrance is behind this - look for a small rocky cliff, the entrance is in the cliff

If someone were to make a map image it would be helpful. I have a messy sketch of the pathways on a piece of paper but it all over the place and not to scale. I think the cave system spreads under the island.

Also a map over the overland area would be awesome too.

That would be a great log entry you could find next to a corpse somewhere in a cave :-)

Day16: Until now I created a big well defended camp and gathered lots of resources, I decided to explore my first cave, so I entered the one that has a looong rope somewhere close to the beach (the beach that has an yacht) and a pond, not far from plane, Inside I found a mutant female with lots of legs and piles of dead mutant children, a few living children attacked me along their mother, I killed all of them using a crafter club, no explosives needed but the cave is very dark and I haven't found anything really useful (flashlight, new axe or something new) only circuit boards and medicine that i can take from plane
