Is this game 1 life only?

Yes and no- you get captured the first time you "die" and if you die again you really do die.

From what I've seen in videos and screenshots, as well as looking through the forum, it appears that it is 1 life only but two chances. When you 'die' the first time, you wake up in a mutant cave and have to escape. However, if you die after that, it is game over. Apparently there is a save system but it doesn't work. Can't say anything for certain because I don't own the game, but this is what I have seen and heard.

There is a saving feature being added, making your playthrough have unlimited lives (respawn at bed), but a hardcore and peaceful mode will be added.
