I DONT HAVE A FETISH ABOUT TENTICALES
Is it true there is a mode without the cannibals? The only reason I'm a bit bothered is because of the "mutated" ones. There seems to be 2 types? that I have seen in a video by frankieonpc1080p and Im just not into that style of things. You know that resident evil style where zombies are fine but then they decide to add in a tenticale here or there or some giant bastard that just destroys everything.

Much like in this. I saw that the tenticaly ones just smash through you're fortifications. I understand that its also a story and it's trying to be realistic in terms that once the cannibals know you exist and where you are they will come for you. That bits fine and then it will get more challenging each night they try raid you but if you're just surrounded by these things, I dont know if anyone else feels the same.

I dont know, I havn't explained it very well lol but its just the style I really dont like that kind of thing it just feels really stupid, they could have it more challenging other ways instead of making mutant monsters from a Dr Who episode. And it just ruins the emmersion for me a bit. But the game looks great, they look like they've put a lot of survival detail into the game and im sure a lot more will be added. But it would be perfect for me to just not have those things in it.

So is that possible?

Someone said you could be able to play and not see the cannibals at all, how true would that be?

Or is there a mode without the tenticale beasts? or you reckon a mod will exist?

I can see a mod being made so we can just have the stock standard cannibals.

I mean it really does sound great. I've just started to research it a bit myself. I dont play horror games cause I get scared lawl but the survival/crafting side it really looks brilliant and I can see this being great. Which is why i'd like to play it. One of the first things that chills me is the idea that you dont know they know where you are because they're stalking you instead of attacking. So they're not without ideas of how to improve it.

There is more than two types of mutants. The number isn't really stated anywhere, but there is more and they're gonna add even more. The trailer simply showed us that as we advance in the game, the mutants also become harder.

Stop complaining for no reason. You're not SUPPOSED to enjoy them. And they don't appear until late in game, the 3rd trailer was endgame footage. They won't bulldoze your fort like that.

They.... won't bulldoze your fort like that, even though we saw gameplay of it happening?

ok.

As I stated above, there will be more than two types of mutants, so no. The third trailer probably wasn't endgame footage. And as MANBEARPIG said, they probably WILL bulldoze his fort like that, since that is what was shown in the trailer.

I wasnt complaining, I was giving a reason why I wanted to know about the different modes. I get you're point though. Ofcourse you're not meant to "enjoy" them but neither am I going to go find a normal cannable and give him an apple expecting to make friends.

Like I said, I was just wondering if you can avoid it because I dont really like that style of overpowered mutant monster the kind you see in resident evil movies/games.

But as i've read more it seems more interesting and I have a grasp now of what to expect in the game.

Althought I still havn't seen anything about endgame. Will you escape or try to escape the island?

Yeah, the devs said there will be two modes: One with all the monsters and one without [like peacefull mode on Minecraft]

The devs are not spoiling anything about the story, so nobody knows. I'd assume you will keep playing on afterwards, though.
Yeah I saw that when reading the Q/A. But just how far can they make a story? Surely it's just going to be.. "you're wife and kid died, theres some people that want to eat you... you better run and try survive". I wouldnt have expected to get missions or meet npc's and so on. But they do mention quite a lot that there is different stages. For example they say that when the player reaches a point that you're well geared and can handle the normal cannibals more things happen or come out to "play". How will the game recognise this next stage.
Bottlieg May 30, 2014 @ 2:40am
I'm not sure if I understand you, but I think it's going to be very fluent, as in the game will not say "BADING! You can now kill the first race of mutant easier". Either way, we'll find out in six hours.

Umm, what?

They wont bulldoze your fort? Although we clearly see them do it in the trailer.
And you're not supposed to enjoy them?... Son, I think you need to take a step back and remember this isn't real life.
