Animal Breeding?

Hopefully in the future they add the ability to trap(or even tame) animals for you to breed. Though since everything appears to be for the most part real time, i'd imagine the growth process to be REALLY long,but it appears to me that there is a limited amount of wildlife in the forest where you'll probably end up killing every single animal leaving you without animals to hunt for meat. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea. But it might depend on the type of animal.

Yea,i was thinking maybe rabbits, they're pretty easy to trap, and easily enough to make a cage of some kind to hold them,and they could breed and make more bunnies,so you atleast have the option of expanding the wildlife so you dont run out of animals to hunt for meat

Judging by the effort they have put in to make this look so realistic, i'd say any small animals that are quick to breed could be plausible. But anything larger would probably take away the immersion, I'm imagining Minecraft like breeding where the animals just pop into adulthood lol.

LOL yea, breeding in minecraft is funny as hell..*pop* awwww so cute *20 minutes later* Damn that pig was delicious! haha

Would obviously have to be more realistic in this game,like i dunno a week in-game days for a baby to be big enough to eat.

It's crazy the amount of effort the 4 people have put into this game, it puts shame on the big name developers who use like 20x that to make 1 average game. Gah, cant wait! sooo impatient lol

If I'm not mistaken in one of the videos it has a lizard in a pen of sorts. Could be for this or some other purpose. They've been pretty cryptic with the exact details of the alpha and future versions, so we'll have to wait and see.

In my opinion breeding the lizards would be neat and maybe small game, as others mentioned, but expand it to setting up a fish farm of sorts would be insane and add something pretty unique. I'd like to see, since this seems more realistic than most of the similar games, having to feed the animals regularly or set up feeding stations.

Yea i noticed that lizard too,didnt see a pen of some kind,i'll have to go look at it again,looked like to me it was just wandering around exploring, having a lizard companion will cure loneliness :P

I'd also love to see an advanced form of fishing,where you can fish in deeper water off the coast, and not like fishing in Minecraft. Like you gotta actually reel it in and move the rod like in a lot of the fishing games

I think it's safe to say that any of the mechanics in The Forest will not be like Minecraft. They've been aiming for realism with pretty much everything.

These 4 guys aren't half-assing NOTHING in this game, so i'm confident enough they'll add a pretty awesome fishing mechanic that is fun and addictive. Gah 4 days remaining...4 long..boring..dreadful days. Well i'm gonna go get lost in the forest across the street from me,and pretend i'm being stalked by cannabilistic mutants

Maybe they auto breed in the wild, or if not they could add that.

well, breeding animals in a forest ovverun by mutant-cannibal-beasts, partially with mutiple arms and legs...would be sth for the future, they should first focuse on the core-gameplay: AI, crafting, fighting, movement, performance

Yeah, I think they sohuld add detailed and randomly generated penis and vagina fo the animal with different types of semen and ovaries for each of them.
