How do you cross water with a log sled?

i've read on the wiki that the log sled can be used to carry logs across the water. However whenever i try to enter water while pushing the log sled, it just stays on the ground underwater. Is it meant to do this?

At one time you could put a log holder on the raft and take them to an island. I did; but starting with V.0.22 for me it no longer works. I could also put a simple shelter, fire, and food rack on it. Got a little crowded! So I made two.... Now I have two, one for the area around the cargo containers and one for the area around the Dead Shark Beach. I just run back and forth on mainland and have bases on islands.

Not for me. I've posted the info to the devs. I put a blueprint of a log holder, shelter,water collector, pit fire, etc. on the raft and then add building material and have a completed travel raft. I rev up the oar and back off the beach and everything is left hanging in air. I can still use them, but I have to pull the raft back up under them. Except for the pit fire. It stays on the raft and goes with me, but it's just a decoration of 7 stones, sticks, etc. Won't light and won't go away.

In an earlier version (20?) I could haul all that stuff out to an island. In v18(?) I could carry two logs on my shoulder and swim with them to the island. Slow, but gave a pretty site. Now, since v21, logs just fall off and sink in the ocean.

So it's bugged. Weird that it's different for everybody. My raft can hold stick holder and log holder as for the rest it's as above described, you can build it on the raft but as soon as you move the raft the stuff sticks in the air.

Oh, and in my game I can swim with logs...

Ok there is a way to get logs over from the main island, it takes some time though. You need to build a few platforms in sea and connect them like this http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=510376804

I just tested putting a log holder on a raft, and it worked fine. I don't know what issues you all are having with log holders on rafts, but it's definitely not universal.

you can take 2 logs, and swim with them, if they began to fell down, push "E" repeatedly for collecting them while swimming, also you can swim with one log

i don't use sled at all, have more days for walking, but collecting more berries and feathers

I trtied to carry two logs and swim to my island again today, It worked! Um... except that twice shark killed me when I was halfway across! And I looked carefully before getting in the water, too. But it can be done, which is great.. But the only real need I see for logs on my island sites is to build a rest bench.

nice! swimming with logs works for me too! but i tested it out in a lake rather than the sea. Also i was wondering, if you dropped the logs on your raft and then sailed to an island, would the logs fall off?

if you'll drop logs on raft they will drown, but if u build a log holder on it you can take logs with you; also fires don't work on raft as for me

ok, I'll try that again. It didn't work for me in v.23; and I have a screen shot of the log holder and simple shelter hanging just off the beach in the air. The fire pit I put on the raft stayed, but won't work! Carrying 2 logs on my shoulder hasn't worked at all in v.23 until yesterday, as I reported.

Some changes were made. Someone said they could now carry logs on the raft and my log holder had been just sliding off the raft. Today I tried again, and it works....kinda!

I put the log holder blueprint on the raft and put a coupld of logs in it,using the c idicator. The logs disappeared but didn't show in the log holder, nor in the water. Then I noticed that the log holder was missing it's lower half (hard to place blueprints in sunlight! So I got two more logs and held them over the holder and hit c and they showed up in the log holder, on the raft.

So I backed off the beach and the log holder with 2 logs showing stayed aboard. I loaded 3 more logs this way and rowed the cargo out to a nearby rock where I wouldlike a small platform. I laid the blueprint and unloaded the logs( hit e). I made two runs before I re-experienced another problem; but it looks like you can put at least one log holder on the raft and carry them at sea. Yea!
