Mysterious person on the boat :O

I had just started a new game and went down the beach to farm feathers, then I saw this while looking for sharks in the water.. now I'm creeped out lol. Has anyone else seen this?

after the screenshot he slowly walked towards the edge, crouched down and then ''climbed down'' into the sea, have never seen such an animation. Also the cannibal at the plane cutscene was painted in full red bodypaint now..

The cannible at the plane has a lot of lore behind him. You see him later in the game although its hard to find him. The person on the boat has been seen before to and is rumored to be just a person driven insane and drowns himself hence the climbing animation.

I swam to the boat instantly to check it out and he was gone, if it had just been a bug and a regular cannibal had spawned there, I figured he would be under the boat shouting at me, but he just disappeared

Yes, I saw him the first time I swam out to the yacht! I was abut half way and saw him, but didn't believe it, and I know there are sharks in the water and cannibals back on shore so I went on to the yacht and it was empty. Scares the crap out of me...

he seemed to have a red texture like the one in the plane opening scene, maybe he is their leader? or even a good guy playing detective on te island and he actually saved our son? :O

Never seen one in the boat like that before but it is a cannibal. Could be something new they do with last patch. Still a good screenshot.

I saw that as well, creepy. Just the way he lowers himself into the sea.......give me the creeps. He seems almost suicidal 0-0

There were also no sharks, (wich is werid) like I was meant to jump after him and search inside the water, but I was like NOPE xD. Eventually 2 sharks came when it became night, I camped on the boat but nothing strange happened after that

It is not a cannibal. It shows itself in a veganmode too, and there is no cannibals there... Must be a ghost. Maybe another piece of a story mode.
Did you noticed that this boat is displaced? It was on the west side of the big tree, and it is still there when I play my old save, but when you start a new game it is on the east side. I wonder how many things one can miss when playing on his old saves.
Anyway, now the boat is just by the grave on the beach and what you can find on this grave is a picture of a boat. Sooo, the ghost on a boat is a deadman from the grave imo.

to me he kinda looked like the cannibal from the plane scene because of the kinda red texture.. maybe its just my graphics settings though

This reminds me off that (as in my conspiracy) the plane has been taken down. No normal plane crash!

I haven't played this game (properly) in a long while.. it's nice to see that they've added an interesting lore/backstory to things and that it's subtle that it can surprise like this, well, assuming this isn't a glitch.

I wonder, what else has people seen of the story elements in the game? This is one of the few I know of and I've missed out on so much that I want to know. Is that any place where they're all listed?
