Food consumption and food degradation?
Is it me or does the character need to eat all the time during 1 ingame day?

Food like rabbit and lizard spoils way too fast?

At the rate my toon is eating he will get bloated and not able to scavage.

It's you. :)

I went on a boat trip today from back behind the main village to the yellow container behind the anchor and back and only needed 2-4 times to feed myself.

Are you maybe confusing the empty stomach meter with the stamina bar? Just sit on a bench when that last when gets depleted.

Its the belly icon, stamina i use benches for.
Eating 2-4 times in that short distance is alot.

I left at dawn, made 2 diving stops along my way to the container, boarded the sailboat, stepped off my raft at the container, made a save, ate a turtle, went back then before the shark beach night fell, and I rowed without stopping back, plunked down a skull light at the place I left off and I was very close to dawn again.

That's not short for me.

But I just remember, my first play round in 0.25 I had the same feeling as if I had to eat more. Not on my second above described run. Maybe, just maybe it's the food I took from my rack that was decayed too much, like a half empty battery?

Look at the belly icon, it drops very fast. Just now i had to eat 3 times/2 items at a time(fresh, 3 lizards, 2 fish and 1 rabbit) during just 1 night. All i did was sitting on the bench. Even tho i caugth the meats and fish before nigth was over the food that was left was spoiled before the sun went up.

Beginning just after the update I noticed that my hunger indicator was dropping pretty fast while I was just walking. The stomach showed just below half full and started flashing that I really needed to eat. So I went back to my site and had to eat 3 items before I was full again. My stamina was ok, but I always bench rest when I eat to max out my food and stamina cuz I never know what I'll meet around the next tree. I'll check it the next time I game, and report if it is still this way. Or maybe I'll just go until I die and see what it takes.

Build a drying rack to help preserve your food supplies it helps a lot.

Its a compromise.

It doesn't take 5 minutes to cut down three trees, skin off the branches and bark, cut them up into uniform sizes, and then haul them a couple misle back to the build site either.

You want more realistic food consumption - that come with more realistic *everything else*.

I've tried twice and both times I degraded very fast, particularly when in trouble with danger or hunger. Worked all day and still had just under half full water, food and stamina. While asleep I awoke to all the same items nearly zero.... My hunger and stamina went to near zero and I couldn't cook fast enough to get full!,,,,even with 2 items cooking at the same time. finally had to eat 2 snack bars to catch up.

When I got below half full I suddenly couldn't find edible living things, or water. I knew I had to eat and drink in order to build and hunt; but the more I needed food or water the faster they disappeared. Just like sticks, huh! Seems like everything is readily available when I don't need it, but everything disappears when I need it. This area needs work...

Im not going for realism, but stuffing your toon with food and water all the time will make the game food/liquid oriented. It goes down way faster than a few patches back, check it by looking at it. Then eat and see it dropp a bit faster, i want to play the game not just eating and drinking. Im just voicing a concern, nothing game changing just tweaking.

It's still a problem for me to get enough food at times to stay alive. I never know when I will deplete to the point where I can barely move. Got killed again today while hunting. Had just collected 2 lizards quite a distance from my base; stamina low, water low, hunger in red zone.

I'm out of snacks and cannot find loot anywhere. I had to build a fire in the forest to cook the lizards, and got killed just after the fire lit. I awoke in the cave and looted the cases there and got 2 snacks. Climbed out, but the village has not respawned once since I started this game, which has been on several occasions.

I've reported this as a problem to the devs, but it might just be my particular load. I'll give it a couple more days before I delete this version and start a new game. That's probably best anyway. Anyone else have this kind of problem?

Did some testing with a timer to see how long it takes to drop.
First run was just standing still with no movment, i filled my belly with food and water and just waited.

Standing still test:
4.2minutes in food down to half/blinking.
7.4minutes in food empty/starving

Water used 1/3.

Test 2 was walking, just walking around so i filled my belly with water and food to max.

Walking test:
3minutes in the food started to drop
10.4minutes the food level was half.

Water barley touched.

Im going to do a running test and a woodcutting test, but something is really off which i suspected a 3-4 patches ago.

After im going to redo all the tests to see that they hold or something is very irregular.

Ok 2nd test with standing still, filled belly with food and water.

5.4minutes in half food and 1/5 water down
9.26minutes food empty and 1/3 water down.

This really needs to be looked over, and i dont understand why in every survivalgame you have to stuff your toon with food and water constantly.

Will do the same tests tomorrow (Mac is rendering something in the background) but I agree something looks to be wacky off here.

Looks like good research to me, folks. Certainly supports problems we are having. I just slowly used up my snack bars and soda if I wanted to get far from my base, where I had turtles and no fish like in v 23. My last day in game I started a second fire and cooked 2 pieces of meat on each and it still took 4 turtles to fill up(that's 8 pieces!). My hunger level rose faster than I could cook food.

I don't like oysters, and when I jumped in yesterday to find some a shark ate me instead.
