Gather Sticks ? What Sticks ?

Rocks galore. Logs galore ( from chopping down trees ). But sticks ? I wanderd far and wide and found not one. I looked for any small trees to chop into sticks but could not find any. Where ARE these mysterious 'sticks' ?

Can't tell if your game is glitches or you just can't see the sticks laying next to the trees...

Next to the trees ? Nope. Not one. In one play of the game ( where the plane crashed in a clearing ) I did find a few small sapplings that converted into sticks, but when the plane crashed at the cliff top....there is not a sappling in sight. There are rocks everywhere...more than I could possibly need, and trees for logs. I got all the hunting shelter built except for the sticks...yet I looked around quite a long distance and there was not a stick or sappling in sight.

the sticks are the small trees next to the big tress? they also drop leaves and they are everywhere

To my mind there is somewhat of an irony in not being able to save the game at a time, right at the start when one is trying to figure out what is going on. That is when one actually needs to be able to save most of all !

Nope....there were no small trees where I crashed. The crash site seems to vary. Sometimes it is in the middle of the forest....sometimes next to the beach....and sometimes near a cliff top. At the cliff top site there was not a single small tree. There's a small mutant camp a way off and withn that radius there was not a single small tree.

Somethings wrong. Sticks are plentiful and found strewn all over the forest floor.
Honestly, you should be tripping over the things. Maybe try verifying your game files.

Yes, I suspect this may be a bug. The rocks are clearly visible and even highlighted, and so are the logs once one chops a tree down, but I wandered about and not only were there no sticks highlighted by no sapplings visible either. I don't know if this only happens on crashing at the cliff stop site.......I DID find some sapplings when the plane crashed at another location.

I've noticed that if you start to chop a tree down, sticks will often appear close by. If you don't stop cutting the tree down and get the sticks they will vanish once the tree falls.

It's a bit humorus. Can you imagine how many sticks you'd have if you chopped down a tree?
Hundreds of them believe me. I've picked many up in real life.

I find a lot of sticks near the plane crash. They might be hard to see but they are very close to many of the rocks. Also, if you see small and skinny 'trees', then just whack them and they should drop a couple sticks.

I can find so many sticks in the game, i don't need to cut any large or small trees to get them, they just lay around and i only need to go for a collecting trip. 5 sticks/1 m² is pretty common.

That's the way it should work ValiuM but it never happens for me. I live in a wooded area and I bet I could walk around my place and get 5 sticks in 5 min. More if the wind was blowing.

Strange that it works out differently for different players in the game.

Well.....if the sticks are there they are certainly not 'highlighted' like the rocks are. I mean,I can see the rocks flashing from some way off. There are loads of them around the crash site. Thes sticks aren't exactly small...so I'm pretty sure I have not simply 'missed' them. They are just not there.

Put it this way......I got all the logs and all the stones for a hunter shelter, and during that entire process plus wandering a fair distance away from the crash site I did not spot a single stick.

Sounds like you got a bugged session then. I'd just restart it fresh imo.

It does seem to depend on where you crash. I dunno if people have noticed, but you don't always crash in the same place. For the first 3 or 4 goes at the game I always crashed in some woodland clearing.....then all of a sudden on the 5th attempt I crashed next to a cliff......the the next attempt I crashed near the sea....and so on. This issue seems to occur when you crash at the cliff.
