Trees? Seriously Devs?
I have quite literally cut down half the forest around my semi made tree top base and the whole island looks like a wasteland making crafting a real chore, but hey I thought the update is soon the trees will be back and be pretty again...but no...what is the point in a forest game when it looks like a severe case of deforestation?
Seriously devs, hope they release a patch soon/alternate Minecraft solution to growth but until then (with my 110+ hrs) I QUIT.

On a scale from 0 to 0, how realistic is minecraft? Maybe that's also another good thing? Limiting the trees so that you survive with the things that you absolutely need, changing your surroundings as you keep on playing.
Also can you think? Even a little? How are the trees going to respawn if you've built stuff around them? Wouldn't that ♥♥♥♥ everything? Say you built a bridge over 20 cut down trees.. say those trees were to respawn... then what? It just takes a little common sense, I guess that's too much to ask

The minecraft example was only what I briefly saw somebody suggest. Since the last update I grew tired of my old base and decided at xmas to build a very high base in the midst of the dense forest so it would be in the canopys etc..the amout of logs required must be close to a thousand but as I am over half waythrough I realised it is an absolute wasteland, (I have not built over tree stumps or anything) and travelling for logs is getting ridiculous now and I'm not even in a forest now which is what I wanted, nothing to do with survival of course I can "survive" without them but without an actual forest where I live I will not carry on until they are back.

seriously u chop all trees down and u expect them to grow back ,trees take years to grow in the real world and should really be no diferent in The Forest .For me trees not regrowing is much more realistic than anything minecraft has to offer ,so please devs please do not let trees grow back

You're missing the point the here, the devs are trying to express the freedom you have with construction: experimental walls, new fences, new roofing options etc.. but what limits this is the lack of trees, I do not want to be stuck some small pokey little base and have no fun, I want to be able to build (no matter how many trees or hours it takes) and still have the beautiful forest all around. If theres no trees then wheres the fun.
Trees can't grow back because it's not realistic, but small trees (the stick ones) that would take a year or more to grow appear in the span of an in-game day. REALISTIC.

Srsly why are people so worried about realism when it comes to playing a game where you crash into an island full of mutant cannibals, 6 legged monsters and so on?

Personally I'd like it if trees would grow back slowly or at least introduce an alternate way of getting tree logs... I mean srsly, you have to chop down like half a forest just to build a house that isn't even necessary to survive since i't just easier to build temporary shelters around the island whenever you need to save/sleep. Not only that but those mutant things can one-shot most of your buildings.
at least give me a reason to build with wood logs... gameplay comes first, not realism, and from a gameplay perspective trees growing back seems to be better, both asthetical and gameplay wise.

But until then, I'll be sticking to my nomad ways :/

Sorry but i don't have too much sympathy for the OP, you knew trees don't grow back so if you're such a little eager beaver and want to cut down half the forest...fine...it's your game but dont whine about the lack of trees....

If you're so keen to build and you've cut down all the trees, nothing wrong with that, make a new game and keep on building to your hearts content...I'm on day 190+ with multiple bases and I've barely touched the forest.

Protip - use stone. Stone can't be destroyed by cannibals and mutants and its a renewable resource since they respawn, unlike trees...plus it's always lying around your base so no need to go long distances or deal with nasty stumps and create huge sightlines for your enemies.

BTW it sounds like you've played enough to know starting a new game is no big deal, it's all the same...just with trees again.

I don't think it's too much to ask for respawning trees, I love the forest and I just wanted my base to be surrounded by the tree tops as my base is 4 full height foundations high (if that makes sense)...which stone is clearly useless for.
As well as just visually, I would like trees around for a sense of protection/privacy and be able to place tree sap collectors, rock fall trap (which is mighty effective) and whatever future creations the devs release that are designed to be attached to trees.
It is not a question of starting a new game, I like the reward of spending hours chopping logs for building each level of my base, if I wanted a creative mode or just build for the sake of building I would play another game.

I know about stone, but that's not my point. I'm just saying that there's hardly any incentive at all for anyone to build things out of wood, I don't cut down trees unless it's to build a bonfire or to get a few resin when I don't have a pot with me.

that and how I don't see how having trees growing in forest areas would hurt so much.

I have to add that the dev's implementing disassembly of structures in game would be probably more welcomed by the community than rapid tree regrowth .

And be able to get logs back? Definetly. I would not care if it is rapid or like 1 a day just regrowth in general.

I would be happy with a major reduction in build items returned . We can harvest materials , cut down trees and build . Its a bit strange we cannot deconstruct .

I agree with idea of regrowth of trees in some period of time (few in game days). Second idea of disassembling structures are genius:) After newest patch my custom walls stick out from platform and my house on highest level platform looks weird now. If I have possibility to move somehow that walls or destroy it with logs returning mechanizm it will be no issue then:)

One more thing, is there any method to remove, lets say, that old root of a fallen trees? That is also annoying. I've build wall next to it and sometimes cannibals can jump on it ;/

On previous upgrades a lot of the trees did respawn....this is the first time they have not respawned....i have had trees in the middle of a few bases...under tree bridges....in cabins....it was always the same after each update...its the reasom i only build on open ground....and like previous comments rock is the best to use.
