Also can you think? Even a little? How are the trees going to respawn if you've built stuff around them? Wouldn't that ♥♥♥♥ everything? Say you built a bridge over 20 cut down trees.. say those trees were to respawn... then what? It just takes a little common sense, I guess that's too much to ask
Srsly why are people so worried about realism when it comes to playing a game where you crash into an island full of mutant cannibals, 6 legged monsters and so on?
Personally I'd like it if trees would grow back slowly or at least introduce an alternate way of getting tree logs... I mean srsly, you have to chop down like half a forest just to build a house that isn't even necessary to survive since i't just easier to build temporary shelters around the island whenever you need to save/sleep. Not only that but those mutant things can one-shot most of your buildings.
at least give me a reason to build with wood logs... gameplay comes first, not realism, and from a gameplay perspective trees growing back seems to be better, both asthetical and gameplay wise.
But until then, I'll be sticking to my nomad ways :/
If you're so keen to build and you've cut down all the trees, nothing wrong with that, make a new game and keep on building to your hearts content...I'm on day 190+ with multiple bases and I've barely touched the forest.
Protip - use stone. Stone can't be destroyed by cannibals and mutants and its a renewable resource since they respawn, unlike trees...plus it's always lying around your base so no need to go long distances or deal with nasty stumps and create huge sightlines for your enemies.
BTW it sounds like you've played enough to know starting a new game is no big deal, it's all the same...just with trees again.
Sorry but i don't have too much sympathy for the OP, you knew trees don't grow back so if you're such a little eager beaver and want to cut down half the forest...fine...it's your game but dont whine about the lack of trees....

+1
As well as just visually, I would like trees around for a sense of protection/privacy and be able to place tree sap collectors, rock fall trap (which is mighty effective) and whatever future creations the devs release that are designed to be attached to trees.
It is not a question of starting a new game, I like the reward of spending hours chopping logs for building each level of my base, if I wanted a creative mode or just build for the sake of building I would play another game.
I know about stone, but that's not my point. I'm just saying that there's hardly any incentive at all for anyone to build things out of wood, I don't cut down trees unless it's to build a bonfire or to get a few resin when I don't have a pot with me.
that and how I don't see how having trees growing in forest areas would hurt so much.
I would be happy with a major reduction in build items returned . We can harvest materials , cut down trees and build . Its a bit strange we cannot deconstruct .
One more thing, is there any method to remove, lets say, that old root of a fallen trees? That is also annoying. I've build wall next to it and sometimes cannibals can jump on it ;/
