Did I miss rebreather?

Last night I found my first cave, kind of near the blue tent on the beach that has the old pot,...went through the slit in the side of the hill down some ropes, came across a skeleton wearing scuba gear that didnt allow me to loot anything from it...

I carried on to a weight system thing that I had to put on rocks onto to continue forward and found a rusty axe and a climbing axe plus some skeletons 'worshipping' some crosses with a bunch of bibles laying around...saved at some tents with the glowing ceiling and a pool but cant figure out how to get outta here...

I havent left the cave yet since it looks like I have to swim again past the room with all the cool lights on the ceiling and am concerned I'll drown like i almost did getting as far as i did...was I supposed to be able to loot that scuba skeleton so i can get outta here??

TLDR - found a skeleton wearing scuba gear but couldnt loot it..was that a glitch?

I noticed a bug currently regarding this. If you're already carrying the max amount of Air Canisters, when you loot the Rebreather guy wearing what looks like scuba gear, it'll give you the error "Cannot pick up more Air Canisters" etc. And it doesn't give you the rebreather.

I literally had to load an old save and intentionally not pick up additional canisters as I made my way through the cave again until I got to the scuba guy, and then I was able to get the white text loot message for the Rebreather in the upper left (and confirmed it finally showed up in my inventory, when it didn't before.)

If you can't load an old save and already looted the scuba guy, I don't know what to tell you, since I don't think items like that respawn?

Try going down the rope in the main cannibal village, and follow the path until you reach a room with one cannibal. Kill the cannibal and look around the room for a small wood barrier. Break the wood and go inside. The Rebreather and Flashlight (Torch for EU folk) will be there. Try that one.

Thanks guys, your 2 comments saved the day! I happened to already be at a cave at a large village and had tried to loot the scuba guy there with no success, luckily I had a save point before i entered the cave so I dumped 2 air tanks and was then able to loot the rebreather.

I dont use spoilers unless i really have to, this worked out great - thanks again, much appreciated!

Is it beside this guy here? because I tried to pick it up and it said I cannot carry any more rebreather but I never had one in teh first place. I did have a few air tanks tho, what's the problem?

If you're already carrying 4 air tanks it wont let you pick up the rebreather...its right guy tho
