drying rack

Am I doing something wrong? I built a drying rack and then put food on it but the food still spoils

This isnt like Valheim that needs that kind of thing, unless he knows something i dont lol. As far as i remember (its been a few months since i played) food doesnt spoil on the rack. Only way it can, is if you put it on spoilt in the first place. Although, i never really left it on long to find out if it does turn fresh to dried to spoilt, after hours and hours later. I always picked it up once it was done and used it, i didnt need so much excess of food i cant use in time. Even with two friends, we only used two racks, it was PLENTY enough food.

you dont need to put it under a shelter? like into a small cabin? and have a fire next to it? thats hte most ridiculous thing iv heard since a while, you most likely like james said did put it on the rack when it was allready spoil, if its burn, its a simple visual glitch if you grab it and dont eat it right from the rack its either fresh or edible dry meat if you did correctly. no wonder he think that with 3 hrs of gameplay people and their imaginaton but never facts and run little mouths on steam thats next level hipster.

You don't need to put the drying rack under any shelter or near a fire. I normally live nomadically and have drying racks scattered in the open fields near my favorite hunting grounds. The meat on a drying rack can however, spoil over time (assuming it isn't simply stolen by the cannibals since you left it out in the open). Dried meat just takes much longer to spoil. There is sometimes a glitch with meat age and reloads though, so if you put it on the rack edible, and reloaded later to find it spoiled for no apparent reason, that's also a rare but potential cause.
